Do you mean you must go for surgery to get away with this sinus? I'm afraid my son won't want to. The last time when he was four, I took him to the ENT specialist, the doctor used a special tool to burn something inside his nose(i think the veins), my hubby and I had to hold him down to get it done. At the end, it was not done properly as he was struggling. Nevertheless, the sinus still exist till now! The doctor did say that he will outgrow this, but he's already 8 and is taking medication almost everyday. Anyway, can Zyrtec be taken in long term? Will there be any side-effect in the future?

Burn ? i never heard of that but i think its to cut the portion and hospitalised for 5 days. i not sure will outgrow it cos i didnt....i suffered...so far no long term effects for taking the pill..cos i did took it for 2-3 years or when i have a bad nose.

So far no side effects on it imho......just that got to live with it ...and v v irritating, 24 hrs nose dripping.

Ya, i think this is the only way (to live with it). I have no other choice too but to give him medicine (Zyrtec) when he starts to cough and has running and itchy nose. Hope that he will outgrow it and all the best to you too.

Hi, my 2 kids ( 6 & 9), they do have nose allergy (cough & nose block/running nose etc,) and I had been giving them Zyrtec for mths. But now about 2 - 3 mths ago, I start giving them Manuka Honey UMF. Since then, no more Zyrtec needed. I think it really help.

You can buy Manuka honey UMF from Takashimaya basement, Guardian Pharmacy or Giant.
I bought HNZ Manuka UMF 15 from Giant when hubby went for op on his eyes.

Dear S-H, sometimes I buy from Nature Farm or from John Little (jurong point) . I will buy depends on which outlets has sale. But so far JL will be better because sometimes they offer 20% .

Dear janet_lee88. It really help my kids alot. Even sometimes they still have running nose in the morning esp on raining days, but it will go away within 1-2 hours not like before I need to give them medicine.

Actually, I had been looking for cures in the past too and I saw the thread on Manuka Honey and decided to try. I use UMF 10 - 15. cannot use too strong for kids.

Dear S-H. They say the stronger the UMF, the better but better not for kids. You can take a look at the thread under "Manuka Honey" on the Health Forum, i learnt from there. Now I give my 2 kids 1 teaspoon neat twice a day. They swallow and drink a sip of water after that. Sometimes I do mix with water with 1 tablespoon once a day if they want to have a a change. So far, the results is good.

No metal spoon allow so I use plastic spoon. No harm trying, you can start with 1 bottle first.

Hi S-H,
Manuka UMF starts from 5 until 25. UMF25 is for people who are very sick as in having tumours...For adults, it's best to take UMF15. Children below 10 can take UMF5 or 10.

It's best to take a teaspoon on empty stomach every morn. After swallowing it, drink a little water so as not to dilute the 'goodness' of UMF. Also very effective when you have sore throat and phlgem. For adults who have gastric, apply the Manuka on a piece of bread.

Manuka Honey is diff from normal Honey bcos it has health benefits.
No need to put in the fridge at all, just keep it away direct from sunlight.
