Yes, borderline pass in Physics 50/100 in Yr 4 can proceed to EJC. However, the prerequisites to do Physics at H2 level, indicative COP is B3.
Not sure if EJC allows students to take Bio at Y5 without taking Bio in upper sec thou. -

EJC's subject combinations are listed clearly on the website.
A lot depends on how academically inclined and strong your DD is.
The first and foremost important thing, is to clear the IP programme and get promoted to EJC, and for most students, they want to be eligible for 4H2s. For progression from Sec 3 to Sec 4 on the IP programme, you need an average of at least 60%.
If your DD is consistently a high scorer, then there is the option to even take 10 subjects.
Most girls will do 8 or 9 subjects.
If your DD plans to do Arts stream in JC, it doesn't really matter whether she takes triple or double science.
If she plans to do Science in JC, then it depends whether she plans to take Bio or Physics. If she wants to do Bio in JC, then do either Bio and Chem, or triple Science in upper Sec. If she plans to take Physics in JC, then do Physics and Chem, or triple Science in upper Sec. -

Subject combinations, then grades if the subject combination is over-subscribed. It doesn't mean you need to be top 25% to get into Triple Science - a number of academically strong girls do not opt for Triple Science. Some prefer to pursue 3rd language / Art / Music as the 9th subject instead, and do not have the appetite to read tem subjects.
It is true that some girls who opted for Triple Science did not get it. (This is so for the batches that have one triple science class - there was a period when SCGS had two triple science classes.) So not everyone who opts for Triple Science gets it. As for the precise allocation mechanism (which grades the school looks at etc - whether it is overall, or Maths and Science, I am not sure).

Double Science students have 2 late days a week (excluding third language, BSP etc) whereas Triple Science students have 3 late days a week. (late days = ends at 3 pm) This applies for this year's batch of Sec 3s.
3)
Majority of HCL students do not take O level chinese at the end of Sec 3. Whether there is a select group who is asked to do so, I am not sure. My DD wasn't asked to.
4)
A good number of girls try for triple Science but all are fine as they get their choice of Humanities or Double Science combinations. I am sure some girls are very happy with one less subject as the workload is heavy in upper Sec and many have CCA or other outside commitments. You can't do Triple Science in JC in any case so it really isn't necessary to do Triple Sci in Sec School.

Depends a lot on the Sec 2 Humanities teachers that year. For my DD's batch, there are more girls taking History than Geog. The Sec 3 History teacher apparently, was phenomenal. In fact, my DD says a good number of girls in her batch will do History in JC (herself included).

One question on the Upper Sec combinations, if you stick with 8 subjects must you have 2 humanities and 2 sciences? From some of the prior posts, it seems like 2 humanities are required (Literature and then either History or Geo). I.e. triple science will require 9 subjects. However alternatively can you take 3 humanities (Lit, History, Geo) and only 1 science (presumably Chem)? Or must take Chem and either Bio or Physics?

For 8-subject combinations, Two Sciences and Two Humanities are required for upper Sec IP.
I did not see any option for three Humanities and one Science. -

Now, I am looking at SCGS this year 2021 Sec 2 (OP & IP) Higher Chinese mid year exam paper 2 test (content & format), dated 27 April 2021, already over
Saw that there is No testing of "tian xie han zi" at all. Different from other Secondary schools’ Sec 2 HCL test format.
Example
Different from the same identical (year and level)
2021 May month mid-year exam, CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ Secondary 2 (OP & IP) Higher Chinese test format.
However, SCGS lower Sec 2 HCL mid-year exam do test "cheng yu, ci yu kao ca" section, inside Paper 2.
Note that I am comparing the Sec 2 HCL test format, between SCGS and St Nick.
The test questions are definitely different.
Why ?
Because
Both schools tested different "dan yuan" (topical themes & chapters), although both are at the same, identical level : 2021 Sec 2
(when we compare something, must compare apple to Apple. Cannot compare apple with an orange. So, we compare the same identical year, & at the same level )

those of you who are keen on getting hold of past years’ HCL exam papers to self- practise at home, during the Cca participation with other inter-Secondary schools meeting, you can make friends with students coming from other schools. And then swap each other’s school marked exam papers / scripts, with one another.
Because
you won’t be able to find any Lower Sec (1 and 2) Standard CL or HCL past years’ papers easily, from push carts sold inside shopping mall.
Yes, you may be able to find Lower Secondary past year papers for (Maths & Science ) perhaps, but very hard to find lower Secondary (Standard CL & HCL) schools’ exam papers. -
Wanting to transfer from O-level to IP track
My DD is Sec 2 now. She is putting in a lot of effort and literally pulling out all stops to excel in her studies, in order to try to transfer from O-level track to IP. Could I ask for some advice?
1. When will interview take place?
2. What can I do as a parent to help out, for e.g. at interview stage perhaps?
3. How many kids get accepted yearly?
4. Any form of advice from anyone is most appreciated!

sorrry Resilience I have no experience with the transfer. Wishing your DD the very best. I would say only the school can advise on how many students get to transfer. SCGS is a small school so the numbers won’t be very large. However, I would not be upset with the OLP at all - is your DD keen on EJC? On the OLP, your DD can enrol in any top JC if she does well for O levels so it is a good position to be in as well.

believed that school SCGS would have asked her Sec 2 students to submit their next new academic year (2022) Sec 3 subject combination !
If you are seriously keen in transferring / crossing over from O-level to IP track (Year 5 in Eunoia Junior College),
can inform your SCGS Vice-Principal (in charge of Academic affair) now, to prep her mentally before hand first. After all, mid year exam already over and Sec 2 Report card
(inside contained grades for every single subject + comments written by class Form Teacher)
by now
would have been returned back to the students. Then, VP will inform you when roughly to expect interview.
But make sure that IP is really what your daughter truly wants for herself, if she is strongly convinced or have the personal conviction that
IP curriculum ultimately indeed will benefit her much more than the O-level ! She has to take personal responsibility, in whichever track she is in.
Finally,
One last important question, please ask your daughter -
You sure you don't want to go Polytechnic, to pursue your area of passion (interests) ?
If she answer you,
\"No, mom. I totally not interested at all in Polytechnic, \", ok, then let her go IP, because she already reach end of Sec 2, no longer PSLE kid, have a mind of her own.
