I didn't pick pte/poly clinics, but only considered large VCs in CC/Raffles City.
Yeah, like 9 out of 10 have booked and some had already taken last week.
No, I did see Sat slots on my screen, and in fact our first pick was Sat AM.
The Pfizer VC choices do change each time you log in to change appt.
If someone changes his appt, his old slot will appear at your next log in.
Anyway, I've made 1 switch to a better timing, after someone released his Fri PM slot at a VC nearer to my area.

But we can't be staying isolated while waiting for a risk-free period to start interacting etc. It's a judgement call when it will be \"low-risk\" enough. The authorities will have to find a suitable point in time without waiting for cases to go to 0 or vaccinations to reach 100%, and even either of those points are not risk-free. I guess since everyone has different risk appetites, no matter which point they choose, some/many will feel they've got it wrong!
Next year, there could be a new African variant. There was this HIV patient carrying 32 types of mutated Covid-19 viruses. It’s a matter of time before a new variant lands on our shores.
We are hopeful but we can’t be 100% sure that vaccinated persons do not need hospitalization for next year’s new double/triple mutated variant, whatever you call it.
Europe and USA have yet to experience the Delta variant whereas UK having experienced the Delta variant is extending their lockdown.
The UK isn't in lockdown any more. They have just postponed their final lifting of restrictions by 4 weeks as cases are on the rise again (due to Delta), though much lower than earlier in the year. There has been a gradual lifting of restrictions since around March. Since 17 May, they have been able to dine in restaurants, have gatherings of up to 6 indoors and up to 30 outdoors, and no masks required outdoors. There are still a no. of restrictions in place, though, so many people are upset that the planned lifting of everything has been postponed. They plan to offer vaccinations to everyone over 18 soon - I think they have reached 21yos already. Too late for my daughter - she will have to get her vaccination after she completes her SHN next month. -

For lack of a better term, I conveniently used the common term used by mainstream media.
The Americans and Europeans still think that “Covid vaccine” really can stop transmission. Singapore is small, coupled with aggressive testing, we can see the picture very clearly by now that vaccinated folks can continue to get covid and pass on the virus. And we also experience the Delta variant as our predominant strain earlier than many other countries.
Perhaps, within the next 1 month or so, US and Europe will experience what we have gone through. And then they will realize that vaccine does not stop the transmission. Back to mask wearing, social distancing and the dreaded lockdowns.
No one is denying the need for S’pore to stay interconnected to the world. The challenge is how to stay open while still keeping safe. -

I think we may have to change our definition of \"safe\". In earlier days, when we knew less, those who contracted Covid-19 got sicker, and fewer were vaccinated, \"safe\" meant not getting Covid-19 at all, and keeping the cases to as close to 0 as possible. Now, many cases are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms, and few end up seriously sick (this lower severity is attributed to more being vaccinated, even though the vaccines don't prevent transmission entirely). So a modified definition of \"safe\" may be needed, which allows for a certain level of transmission as long as the no. of seriously sick cases don't threaten to overwhelm our medical facilities. Perhaps short targeted lockdowns and testing (e.g. 1 mall or office building, a few residential blocks, etc.) will be carried out now and again when a cluster grows beyond a certain size, while the rest of the nation continues as per normal. I believe this is what we will get to once enough are vaccinated.
