      Hai,

Anyone know canossa convent primary school and chij kellock? Which one is better.

      Thank you
Pick the one nearest to your house, so that your daughter don't have to wake up at 5.15 am, just to catch the school bus to school.

Sleep is very important, to a young child.

I'm sorry if this is mentioned before but the Phase 1 numbers appear to be updated today.

                Some personal views:

                1. Not so good news for parents aiming for these (already popular) schools in the later phases:
                Huamin, Holy Innocents’, NYPS, SNGS
Especially to parents aiming for NYPS & SNGS - good luck. There will be a bloodbath (nothing new there) starting in Phase 2A1.

                2. On the other hand, could be good news for those aiming for these (usually popular) schools in the later phases:
Raffles Girls’, Shuqun, Poi Ching, Princess Elizabeth, Radin Mas
More vacancies usually mean better chance but then again, may also attract people who would otherwise not have considered the school.

                3. Some alternatives to more popular choices may be even harder / easier to get in the later phases:
Kheng Cheng, Springdale, St. Andrew’s, Canberra, St. Anthony’s, Maris Stella, KCPPS
Do keep an eye on them in case you would like to ‘upgrade’ their status to first choice or switch to another back up.

The rest of the schools are pretty much status quo, if nothing dramatic happens in the next few phases.

Just curious, why does SNGS face so much more pressure (ballot) in 2A than the other full schools like MGS and SCGS? This year the take-up in Phase 1 is higher for SNGS (% of spots available), which makes the problem even worse. However, in prior years the Phase 1 take-up was similar for all three yet SNGS has the ballot risk here.

Obviously it means more people are applying in 2A at SNGS but is there a reason why? I would think all three schools are equally attractive if an alumni has a female offspring.

St Nicks alumni loved their school culture more? Or they want SAP schools but those near their house aren’t easy to get into?

MGS and SCGS alumni may not care for SAP schools. And they may be happy with any girls school that is nearer their house.

As an outsider, SNGS students come across as effectively bilingual, academically strong, all-rounders, with a healthy sisterhood bond

That is the legacy of our former long-time principal Mrs Hwang-Lee Poh See. We love her for “nagging” us every morning at assembly: 姐妹同心…入得厨房,出得厅堂…
