Actually I really don’t get the appeal of RGPS. There is no affiliation and just a girls school. Being a GEP centre does not increase one’s chance of being in GEP. In RGPS, most girls are heavily tutored and go enrichment centres. So we cannot say the sterling results is due to the school’s effective teaching too.

You won't be able to know.
How can I know how many applicants are PV and GRL in phase 2B? How many total number of GBL applicants each year?Chillitan\" post_id=\"2015610\" time=\"1613994261\" user_id=\"191461:
Hi Sasawan
Are u using the grassroots route? Need to serve min. 2 years right?
Only the school knows exactly how many have entered by P2B GRL during 2B Registration time,
because
RGPS already have their own list of Parent Volunteers' name list.
So, any one whose daughters have entered by P2B but their parents' names not found inside the PV name list, means that
they must have entered by the GRL road. But school will never disclose how many GRLs have entered RGPS, to the public. Is their own internal, confidential info kept.
Each year,
before Primary 1 Registration start, RGPS school would have already known
1)
the Total number of K2 kindergartners, entering by Phase 2A1 Alumni phase, because
this name list is held by the President of P2A (1) alumni.
And
2)
the Total number of K2 kindergarteners, entering by Phase 2B (Parents Volunteers), because the Head of PV will be holding this name-list, in her hand.
And RGPS make sure that every P1 class spread out, will have a mixture of students enrolled by
Phases (1 sibling + 2A1 Alumni + 2A2 old girls + 2B + 2C ) -
Given the lesson from last year, within 1km balloting. Will those more than >2km try this year or will it let those 1-2km think hard about it as well? I would be surprise if the number hit more than last year as either it mean most of them stay within 1km or just some just out of range folks apply by the virtue of I want this school and I have tried.
It has little purpose for MOE to post the numbers by the end of day 3 as the numbers are not verified and people will want to know the balloting scenarios.
If this is my first choice and I already have a backup choice and I stay within 1km, I will apply and just shut off. No point torture myself mentally until 17 Aug. -

Just like grapes, some say they are sweet while some say they are sour. In reality, its very hard to tell how the grape taste simply by looking from outside. Even the best viticulturist in France will need to taste the grapes before they can decide if its time for harvest.

R u one of those Staying beyond 1km and trying to discourage others to apply so u have a high chance of getting in? *eye u suspiciously*

Jus kidding, don’t be offended.
Anyway not all parents are after the affiliation status. Maybe kids tend to be alittle more hardworking knowing it’s merit based, and that mentality rubs off onto their classmates ?
Tell the parents at Rulang, aitong, Tao Nan, rosyth, Henry park.. or the boys at Nanyang pri !! Tell these parents that their pri school has no appeal because there’s no affiliation. *death stare
Let u in on a little secret.. actually many many many manyyyy kids now r heavily tutored, not just in RGPS.
Since U already said RGPS produce sterling results.. if u let me choose
1. a school with heavily tutored kids and can produce sterling results
Versus
2. A school with heavily tutored kids but doesn’t produce sterling results
I’d go for #1.
No offence to u, to each his own. -

Actually you can agar agar guess your chances. Taking this year's 97 spaces as an example and then looking at the residential demographics of the area within 1km of the school, you would be able to more or less guesstimate your 2C chances. If you stay within 1km of RGPS then based on the surrounding residential areas, I really don't expect that it will be 97 girls (as last year was at least 77 girls but this year increased spaces by 20 to 97), and even if really exceed 97 girls and become say 110 etc, the chances of balloting success is still relatively good all things considered (of cos better have back up 2CS plan haha).[/quote]To some posters comments. Too much information can cause worry. I was told that last year balloting for 1km was “50” percent. I take this with a pinch of salt. But hard to shake off that it would be very different. Of course year by year dynamics can change but I do see a trend towards increasing competition as part of sg inc. on why rgps. I don’t have a better choice. As parents u can only do your best to put kids in the best position given information you know. I won’t say it’s sour grapes but reality that this hedonic treadmill is getting worse. Competition to some parents is a bad thing but isn’t education preparation for the reality in life. If I can feel the stress and competition with rules not favourable to SC. Imagine for your kids when they grow up. No point coddling them to a false realty. That’s my view only
Oh ok no worries. But actually although I will like to if MOE does updates on Day 3 the final numbers but then again without breakdown sometimes the number means nothing as well. Of course for some situation it might but for some might not. I mean say for RGPS, we know there's 97 places available. So if on Day 3, MOE update total number 1) 150, 2) 176, 3) 200. Does it mean much? Maybe if it's 150, I have a bit of feel good factor cos it's less than last year but without knowing the breakdown it doesn't mean anything as in what if all 150 with 1KM? If it's 176 then it's same as last year and if it's 200 more than last year and if it's more than last year I may be more nervous but what if only 80 within 1KM?CALYNSEA\" post_id=\"2032915\" time=\"1628044422\" user_id=\"181903:

Oops sorry, misread. Its by tonight 11pm....
So ultimately without breakdown not really meaningful but I get it we will like to have as much info as we can likewise for me. -
Agree! Whenever strangers or friends asked I would say the same but those who had decided to go for brands would do it anyway and years later tell me “now we know what you mean”. Lol

No offence taken at all! I agree with you too. I don’t have any Pri going kids anymore.
I said what I said because I have a massive extended family plus because of my personal “journey”, I am “involved” with double-digits number of kids, so now I can speak with hindsight. Lol 😂 don’t ask my age!
True about Rulang, Taonan too. But many kids do not thrive there. Again speaking from personal experience!! Kids who thrived in RL and TN or RGPS will thrive anywhere!Hapeepz\" post_id=\"2032941\" time=\"1628054983\" user_id=\"194214:

Strong alumni. Generations of Rgs girls, the child’s aunties, mums, grandmothers, grandaunties were from rgs. Maybe the reason for the demand in RgPs.

This part is true. Like the ACS boys wanting their kids and grandkids to also attend ACS.
