Lor 1 and the Blk 1xx are my old stomping ground leh
As The Peak isn’t that new anymore, I thought it wouldn’t have much of an effect. The crest side is where the young and new entrants are. I guess I wasn’t paying attention but if someone is living af the crest, the girls have a choice of 2 single gender and 1 coed school within 1km, while the boys only have KCS. Guess the boys are driving the demand. When the folks who bought the upcoming Toa Payoh Ridge become eligible for P1 registration, the odds will become worse. The boys have no other school <1km to try.
OT: since 你的地盘, ask u about secondary school selection - if residing near Caldecott, given a choice between Beatty Secondary or take MRT via TEL to Woodlands South for Christ Church Secondary, which one would you pick? -
Overall slightly lesser applicants this year than last year (500±) and 3.7k will be balloted out in 2C.
90 oversubscribed plus 1 other school hit by the PR limit. (less than last year)
If my eyes didn’t failed me, there are 66 balloting within 1km (less than last year). With more than 6X oversubscribed for Northland, Nan Hua and South view. Princess Elizabeth largest over in absolute term (191). 15 schools balloting for SC 1-2km (more than last year) and 4 more balloting SC >2km (same as last year). -
Congrats for those who do not need to ballot and Good Luck for those who need. It will be another long wait over the weekend to get the result.

While there are some surprises here and there, overall speaking I think last year actually was worse than this year.

Any parent waiting for Mee Toh 2C balloting result? We’re SC<1KM but still require ballot. Would like to know the chances here. it’s 152 applicant vs 80 vacancy. Wonder if this 152 are all SC <1KM or mixture.
Other school within 1KM are Edgefield, Greendale and Punggol View. Any recommendation for 2CS? -

Frankly, they are not too dissimilar but if I would have to pick, I will choose Beatty.

Beatty isn't the most fantastic school but it has a good track record of nurturing and developing her students (my cousin, of the same stomping ground :rotflmao: , studied there - then CJC - SMU). Considering that it was never among the top tier (and probably not the second, or third tier either) secondary schools, I think being able to call a Supreme Court Judge, a President of the NUS and a Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, NUS an alumni must mean something (those are usually the domains of pupils from another school, somewhere diagonally across Beatty). You can also read the story of David Hoe https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/how-david-hoe-fought-his-way-to-university and https://www.todayonline.com/commentary/my-journey-aspiring-be-chicken-rice-seller-becoming-teacher-and-igniting-sparks-children if you want to feel inspire.
That said, I am quite sure Christ Church will do fine as well. However, I don't see an advantage or a need to travel to Woodlands South everyday unless you are thinking of utilising that affiliation points to SAJC or you simply need to enjoy the aircon on our trains. -

My best guess is 151 SC < 1km and 1 blur sotong > 1km who couldn't figure out what's happening.

MTS has NEVER NOT balloted for SC < 1km since it moved to Punggol in 2005. Why would any logical person > 1km feel differently about this year and apply to MTS? -

 so the chances is really 50%:50% now.

Edgefield looks like it's safe for SC < 1km for Phase 2CS.
Greendale should have places left after Phase 2CS.
Q: Do you want to ballot in Phase 2CS?
If yes, PV. If no, better to choose either Edgefield or Greendale.
If you choose to ballot at PV and misses out, likelihood is that you will be posted to Greendale as that's the school most likely to have places left after Phase 2CS (and before Phase 3). -

Another wow goes to St. Margaret's.
Kheng Cheng School
127 for 94
Ballot for SC < 1km
That’s definitely the first wow from me. Quite a reversal of fortune. I think the development of Toa Payoh West was being overlooked
110 for 91
BUT ballot for SC > 2km
Quite a turnaround considering:
2020 was 98 for 97, ballot for PR > 2km
2019 was 82 for 108
2018 was 99 for 90, ballot for PR > 2km
Only 1 data point but could it be pointing to SC taking a closer look at SMPS now that it's shift to the renovated and upgraded campus at Wilkie Road is confirmed for Jan 2024?
I do believe next year and 2023 should see keener competition among SC as SMPS is probably one of the few schools (with affiliation to a good secondary school) that's easier to get into for SC. Plus, everyone loves new and shiny things.
