General observations... For the W@W Wr!te Program, it's interesting in tt they promote independent creative thinking... of sorts. The writing is done at home, the whole lesson has the teacher engaging the students in brain-storming activities. There is a structure, of course - they cover ideas for the general plotline & recommended phrases (~10 for each paragraph) for each component (intro-problem-climax-resolution-conclusion) of the composition. The class will discuss & jot down some pages of notes on worksheets. Based on these worksheets, the students have to reconstruct/compose an essay using all the phrases & their own inputs.

There is a homework log as well - a piece of worksheet for the child to record his homework (example: write a new composition, do 2nd draft, learn new words) for each lesson, plus a column for the teachers to insert comments.

              Dear parents,

I would like to find out more about this centre if anyone has sent your child to attend their class, especially for P6.

              Thanks

                Hi beemum,

Just saw your qns. Hope u've signed up your DS in Mar.

The W@W curriculum is well structured & I like that they get the students to actively generate ideas for each topic during lesson time & classroom engagement allows students to sight what other ideas were generated by other students. Every test time, students are trained to write within the time limit. The materials are very detail in guiding students in developing good writing skills.

However, amongst DS school frds, one kid did not benefit & his mum still find his writing very infantile. Another child found the teacher didn't effectively teach. Cannot mention name here. DS coach was fr Kings Arcade & I found her effective & good at spotting my DS problems & is effective in helping u'stand how to correct his weakness.

Think writing compo is fun and challenging with Ms Agnes' class & this 'competition' amongst students helps build awareness to improve. Just imo.

                    Hi Esteema,

Just curious. Did you also check out The Write Connection prior to signing up W@W? I hope to hear some feedback on these 2 centres.
