I think teaching is already not easy for the first lesson since the tutor has to slowly understand the student, and now u r probably making the tutor more nervous. Sekali the tutor underperform and got judged badly. If u r experienced does that mean u change tutors alot 😛
Yes, I do admit that I am fussy and changed quite a number of tutors before.

Well, if yr tutor is experienced, why should they be 'stage fright'?

You can try setting up a tutor agency and help us interview tutors. We would be able to get good tutors through you.

No point interviewing. If you had the experience of interviewing others, u should know that there are many who can handle interview question but still fail to perform.

maybe what he/she means is setup a niche job like spying on the tutor for 15 mins and judge the tutor.

                Hello Everyone

I met a private tutor for my p5 girl who offered an intensive 1 to 1 coaching for 3 months (math & science total 48hrs). The rate quoted was $180 per hour. Upon completion of this 3 months intensive coaching she will join the group at $80 per hr. Is this the normal going rate for private tuition?

FYI my girl is an average girl but fared badly this year in CA1 & SA1.

Appreciate your comments and welcome any recommendation for tutors/enrichment classes.

                Thanks.
I know of a prestigious pri sch math teacher who charges $80 per hour for a class. Even the well-known Fabian Ng charges $75 per hour. And these are considered up-market rates alr.

[quote=\"Mama Leong\"]Yes, I feel this is too expensive. The tutors that I have hired so far are charging around $35-$40 per hour and they are alrdy so professional & experienced. U don need to pay $80 per hour to produce the same results.

Hi Mama Leong, do you have English tuotor? Can pm me the contact details plse if you do not mind to share? Thanks.

Ontheballmother, I only have Chinese and Maths tutors to reccomend for primary levels, as my kids dont have an English home tutor.

                  Hi Mama Leong,

                  Need one for my boy.

                  Thanks.

                      Hi Charlene,

I just engaged a private tutor for chinese. The going rate is about $40-$50 an Hour. This rates are for MOE trained teachers. Ours is $50 per hr as she is a school teacher
