both COP of Maris Stella and Yishun Tow in 2020 was 239, but when it is mapped to AL, Maris Stella is 12 while Yishun Town is 13.

I am no expert, so, I can be wrong..

If my understanding of MOE simulation is correct, it is a \"What If\" world. I don't think the Tscore COP = simulated AL COP. When generating AL COP:
1. MOE simply converted all Raw score to AL
2. Use the 6 choices of 2020 cohort, assuming they are now having AL instead of T-score
3. Simulate the algorithm
4. Voila, AL COP..

which means, the students who managed to make it into School A based on simulation may not be able to get in to the same school should T-score be used. The assumption that the all students in a specific school between the two exercises to be the same 300s individuals is not correct. Otherwise, there is no need for MOE to \"simulate\" AL-based placement. They can simply converted those students PSLE to AL and reported the indicative AL COP.

MOE indicative AL COP is good guideline. The largest margin of error came from students 6 choices, which can be entirely different should they were asked to do again using AL system.

Which school do you or your son like better, Fairfield Methodist or ACS Barker? With AL13, no problem getting into either. Congratulations! your safety net is GM.

1. Fairfield Methodist 11
2. ACS Barker First 11
3. Maris Stella AL12
4. Geylang Methodist AL15

FYI. Both Fairfield Methodist and ACS Barker are Methodist schools, have affiliation to ACJC, are holistic and have a broad range of students. Fmss is co-ed whereas barker is a boys school.

Thanks so much! The info is encouraging! Can you please help me understand why with AL13 would be no problem getting into AL11? Both Fairfield Methodist and ACS Barker have affiliated primary schools. Thought would be risky? Much appreciate your advice.

My first child took PSLE exam in 2017 and second one this year. In my children’s primary school (same school), they announce top performers on the PSLE result release day (maybe it is same at other schools?). In year 2017, the number of children above 250 was 15. (It is neighbourhood school so there are only a little number of top performers) This year, there are only 9 children above AL8. Considering this, do you think it is possible guess that above AL8 would be less than 10% this year?

Out of curiosity, will we be informed of the balloting process? For example, 55 students with AL11 (assuming same citizenship n choice order) vying for last remaining 50 vacancy. So possible the 5 may meet the cutoff of AL11 and not get in. Is the balloting process transparent?

I don't think so cause balloting can happen for all 6 choices in the worst case. If it is like that, it will be very troublesome process for MOE. We will be informed of finallly posted school only.

10% should be right, maybe 9% ~ 11%, but beyond 8% and 12 % is unlikely
