Hi , DD scored AL 12 and Distinction for HCL. We are staying in east. pls advise if my choice of order is wrong.

1.Chung Cheng High main (cop 6M-11M) not sure if any chance but DD loves Chinese subject and environment
      2. Anglican High (cop 5D-12P)
      3. Chij Katong Convent (cop 11-15) affiliated to JC
      4. Kuo chuan Presbyterian Sec (cop 8-13) affiliated JC but location issue
      5. Temasek Secondary School (cop 7-13) no affiliated
      6. Geylang Methodist Sec (cop 13-21) affiliated to JC

Is Chung Cheng wrong choice for us and if lost Chung Cheng will Anglican reject just because is not our first choice?
any other good discipline sec school in the east recommend for her? Appreciate if someone can advise.

Dear All parents, I would like to seek for your advise for my plan of choices for S1 for my DD - 6D for PSLE result. Thanks.
        Whether they are logical? Thanks.

        1 - Nanyang Girl (4-7M)
        2. Raffles Girl (4-6)
        3. Cedar Girl - IP (choose this one as most near to our home) (4-8)
        4. CHIJ ST. NICHOLAS GIRLS' SCHOOL - IP (4-7M)
        5. DUNMAN HIGH SCHOOL (4-8D)
        6. Cedar Girl - O Level. (4-9)
High chance of getting NYGH, and if not successful, you will get into Cedar (IP) for sure. I think you have nothing to be concerned about.

          Dear parents.
My girl got 7M. I hoped max 8 or 9 point bcoz she had quite hard time in p6. So her result 7(M) really surprised me.
At first, I thought this year’s cohort doing so well???? Only her??? Was the test easier than usual?
These questions are still hovering in my head.
What if too many 7 scorers out there? Many balloting which we want to avoid bcoz of ‘PR’ status could happen.
We’re thinking NYG, NJC, RVH as top 3 choice now.
NYG and NJC are too risky for PR student?
Living in Clementi/West coast so Nan hua, Fairfield, Commonwealth will be next 3 choice.

Any advice will be deeply appreciated. Thank you!!!! :?: :?: :?:
Balloting is possible for NYGH and NJC, but if you are happy with RVHS then you are quite safe with 7M (i.e high chance will get in).

RV placed at the third choice is a strong safety net, so no harm trying for NYGH and NJC in the first two choices.

              Dear gurus,

My DD has scored 8(M) for her PSLE and we are thinking of putting the below choices:

              First Option:
              1st: SCGS IP (COP 😎
              2nd: SCGS O (COP 9)
              3rd: RV IP (COP 9D)
              4th Swiss Cottage (COP 11)
              5th: Crescent Girls’ (COP 11)
6th: Bukit Panjang Gov’t High School (COP 11)

I know SCGS IP historical Tscore COP has been around 252. I have also read in some post here that AL8 is around 252 to 254 for IP. But interestingly enough, SCGS O historical Tscore has also been around 252, but the COP for its O level is 9 instead. I’m thinking if I can’t get into SCGS IP, at least there’s a very high chance of getting into SCGS O? If someone can tell me what my chances are especially around First & 2nd Choice here with AL8(M).

              2nd Option:
              1st choice: MGS O (COP 😎
              2nd/3rd: SCGS IP (COP 😎
              2nd/3rd: SCGS O (COP 9)

MGS is my DD dream school and she’s happy to forgo doing IP by doing O level at MGS instead. Historically Tscore has been around 253-254 for O level programme (which correspond to a AL8 COP?). Obviously she’s not going to get into MGS IP, so having AL8, does she stand a good chance with MGS(O)? I’m thinking most of the AL1-7 would be going for IP programme and there’s a good share of AL8 scorers’ opting for St Nicks, does that improve my odds here with MGS(O)?

Wonder if anyone can do such a chart for the AL system:
                https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/psle-2013-results-a-simulated-analysis-fine-tuned/
We can try but it's all garbage in, garbage out. Only MOE can give us the distribution of PSLE AL scores.

I think even in the past the subject t-scores were not normally distributed; the median score was almost certainly higher than the mean (the mean total score is 200 yet 66% of cohort or so used to qualify for Express). Yet the chart assumed they were....

I definitely have some thoughts as to what's going to happen and chime in with comments from time to time (it's a fun discussion and many interesting things to think about). But even if we can get the distribution of AL Scores we still don't know the supply side (DSA intake was AL4-AL5s or AL6s+? number of qualifying affiliates? etc, etc? ) well enough to predict COPs any better than we are all guessing now.

I also think that high chance for NYGH. Especially ‘Distinction’ will give her priority over other 6M, 6P, 6.

Some of the confusion over choice order and merit (AL score) is probably caused by a misestimate of the # of AL4 and AL5 students. If we assume the total % of AL4 + AL5 students is 3%, that translates to 1173 students. Of these, I guess at least half would already be admitted through DSA. That leaves about, let's say, 600 to go through S1 posting. Divide that by half gives 300 boys and 300 girls (more likely 200 boys vs. 400 girls). Unless they all somehow choose the same school as their first choice, then there is no possibility that AL4 or AL5 would not get into their first choices.

As many have said, no school has a COP below AL6. No point worrying about those lucky ones with AL4 and 5 -- they will all get in their first choice, while still leaving spaces (not sure how many though) in every school for the rest.
                        interesting analysis.

Does anyone know what is the cohort size of

                        RGS
                        RI
                        HCI
                        NYGH
