Please check with the school directly to get the fastest reply.

But in general there is no real hurry to get your textbooks, as the bulk of the kids are coming in via S1 posting and there’s Orientation week I believe…no teacher will insist on all the kids having all their textbooks within the first few weeks of school. OOS is not anyone’s fault…[/quote]
OT: That's possible - MT curriculum can be managed quite differently. My dc1 offered MT, but his secondary school still made them buy HMT books in Sec 1 (I don't know exactly how they read HMT passages to use in answering MT format). The other dc does not need to buy MT textbooks as his school teachers use their own (in-house) materials

For yr1 and 2, the textbooks that DD used often are HCl and Maths as there were hw set from there. Lit book is definitely a must have. For history and geography, they used notes, ppt slides and reading materials. For science, also used school materials during her time as yr1&2.

I remember there were lots of tb to buy for yr3. Again, the ones used more frequently - HCl and both Maths.

For yr4, they would have purchased most of the TB in yr3 so the booklist is very short.

Time really flies. Can still remember reporting to rgs (@ Anderson) a few years back.

                  Hi Khd,

She can purchase them at the school bookshop when school starts in January. The badge can be collected on the spot, while the name tag will be given to her the week after… school will double check with the girls on the name on the first week of school, some names are too long or if it’s spelled accurately.

                    Hi Smurfy,

I assume you are asking for your child who is incoming for year 1 in 2022?

For year 1, yes they do use the textbooks. My daughter (year1 2021) says she has been referring to her textbooks for school work. Although she heard that some other classes, do not refer to them as frequently. Some subjects use their textbooks more than the other subjects, so it depends largely on which class/teacher your child is being assigned to.

They use their Higher Chinese and Math almost daily, the rest about 2-3 times a week. The girls can keep heavy textbooks in the locker, so that whenever the teacher refers to them in class, they can get it from the lockers.

                    Hope this helps!

Thanks. But my girl taking Malay and it appears no option but to take Higher Malay (based on booklist)? She had insisted to take higher Malay in pri although we discouraged cos there was almost no benefit if non-Chinese and her time was tight. She was the only person taking (1-on-1 with teacher). Now she’s ready to stop in sec but unsure if can…

Not a very big deal though, just curious on this point.
                      Hi AHs,

I took a look at the timetables and didn’t see Malay for any of the classes in year 1, 2021. Perhaps every Malay student opted for HMT so that they can drop the subject after year 4. This frees up time to focus on core subjects in year 5/6.

The first 3 classes has students taking higher Malay, higher Chinese and Chinese. The next 9 classes has higher Chinese, higher Tamil and Hindi students. This is for year 1, 2021.

                      Hope this helps!

Thanks very much. Indeed it helps. Was thinking about it also to same conclusion.

In old days, higher mother tongue at O levels is equivalent to AO level in JC 😅 not sure they use same terminology now
