Hi - does anyone know what the Humanities DSA entails? What is the commitment if they are chosen for Humanities DSA?

Perhaps you want to check with the respective school? On either the school website, open houses or email the department.

Schools offering selected talent area for Humanities:

        Kranji Secondary School
        Pasir Ris Secondary School
        Catholic High School (Secondary)
        Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (Secondary)

I'm also curious what they test for \"humanities\" DSA, and what students must do in that DSA. Surely they can't simply say: \"I'm human, so I am\" 😂

Just some useful points for your consideration :
            1) In RI , all sports CCA is on 3 days . They are usually on mon , wed and fri starting from 4pm and end at about 6.30pm (varies across different sports).
            2) Sports CCA are extremely popular and hard to get in . The boys have to go thru trials .
            3) Debate is another extremely popular cca and audition is required . So even if your son decides to enter RI via psle T score route , it doesn’t mean that he will definitely get into debate .
            4) DSA commitment for RI is for 4 years , if I’m not wrong . Please clarify during the open house .[/quote]
Just to add on. This year 2022, Cat High won Table Tennis (Gold) so if the students chose RI, stands a high chance to DSA into RI. Those golden winners from Cat High goes for external training as well as school training to maintain their position. Parents plan years ahead before the child chose CCA in primary to get them a chance to DSA. A learning tip is to plan with the end in mind.

Same goes for schools with Debate CCA. Even if you can enter with AL score, it does not mean you will get shortlisted for the CCA.

Remember, DSA is the answer to reducing PSLE stress. There's nothing more comforting than an offer from the secondary/IP school you are targeting, as that bypasses the confusing secondary school application system.

Good luck to everyone going for DSA!
I agree with you. Children weak in Mother tongue has a disadvantage. They usually do well in other 3 subjects, easily securing AL1 to AL2, but for Mother Tongue such as Chinese, if you get AL 5 , totally ruin your AL configuration.

SA1 and prelim results will not determine actual PSLE results. Pray hard that this year SEAB will go easy on the questions. I doubt so, since there is no removal of topics. Good luck to tiger girls and boys this year!

The last two years (2020 and 2021), due to covid-19,
                        SEAB gave chance.
Took out a lot of P6 topics for (Maths & Science).
As such, the PSLE preparation workload was so much lighter, compared to PSLE 2019 batch.

This year, people feel more relaxed, with covid situation & cooling measure(s).

                        No.
P6 Mid-year SA1 does not determine your PSLE results.

                        In 2019 Psle batch,
many students did well in their P6 mid-year exam. But when the actual Psle results were released in Nov, some students cried, taken aback (shocked)
                        because
they were expecting Tscore at least 250+, but turned out they scored 22x / 23x region. A far cry, from their expectations.
