      Hi Mummies,

Thanks for all your valuable input.
At this point in time, my mind is just focused on registering her for P1 first. Then will ask mummies in the school if there is CA/SA for P1/2.

So if there is no CA/SA1 for P1, then SA2 will be crucial.
In any case, will monitor how she fares along the way and adjusts accordingly.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your valuable inputs...any feedback if P1 needs to engage private tutor or enrichment classes like learning lab, berries etc are good enough?

I would say depends on individual child and his or her parents' expectation & definition of success.

Every child is different, esp if the child is of different sex. The first 3 months in P1 is for adjustment, so it’s really great NOT to have CA1.

As for SA1, some schools are also doing away with it. My tutor told me the school she is teaching at will not have CA/SA for P1 and 2…parents are not happy bcos they prefer to have SA for Primary 2.
Throwing in CA/SA amd Science at P3 will be too much to stomach.

yes, you will receive a letter from the school certifying your qualification for registration in phase 2B.

Most schools issue the letters in early July after schools re-open. Be patient as along as you are sure that you have met or exceeded the min hours.

              😉
              Thanks tankee for your reply:)
we're getting quite worried about it as its our 1st child...

Btw can i check with you if grandparents are of the church, can grandchild be given any priority? cause my friend told me that his parents got the recommendation letter for the child..and both his wife and him is not a member of the church..
              ???

                2 bb princess,

Don’t worry. As long as you have met the hours required, that letter will arrive in your letter box.

As for recommendation from church, grandparents who are members of the church, grandchildren are not entitled to the priority.
                Phase 2B:
For a child whose parent has joined the school as a parent volunteer not later than 1 July 2009 and has given at least 40 hours of voluntary service to the school by 30 June 2010; or whose parent is a member endorsed by the church/clan directly connected with the school; or whose parent is endorsed as an active community leader.

Don’t understand why some schools increased no. of vacancies when all schools are to be single session in 2016? I think my ds1 has no luck to get into South View :~(

Yes, from what I heard, some schools will be cutting classes to meet the 2016 deadline of single session. Parents with young children not due for P1 registration yet will have a tougher time getting their kids into their school of choice by then.

                        Hi,

I have a daughter who will be registering for P1 later next month. Unfortunately, her registration will fall under P2C. I live within 2km of CHIJ Toa Payoh, St Margarets Primary and Hong Wen Primary. Which would you recommend if the places available are about the same?

Thanks in advance to those who can value add to this nagging question.

                        Kaye
