I actually agree with @Courtly above.

Indeed, such toxic behaviour of the management (and even hods) needs to be eradicated. It is totally disgusting to be double standard and multiple-faced.

I certainly hope that more competent and compassionate individuals can improve on the situation.
      Hi Allen,
Is your child still studying at XM?

          Hi,

Can someone please share if the situation in XM has improved, with the new principal?

Cause my child is thinking of putting XM as his first choice.

The new Principal will only officially start in 2023.

I have asked my child to reach out to her seniors who are currently there and their feedback is that they enjoyed the school and the school activities. That to me I feel is important.

I guess to each its own. Our children are not there to look for a job.

If the school management does indeed is toxic with people leaving cos of their resistance to change or whatsover. Then i would see it positively that the turnover is a good thing. Hopefully everything will be better when the new P starts next term. I also had my worries at first but felt so much better when I raise this concern to the new P at the open house. He also welcome parents to engage with him.

I would welcome feedback from parents whose children are currently studying there to give feedback on the ground on student experience. Please list actual examples of how it impacted your child.

With an unsupportive P like the previous one, teachers dun feel comfortable working in the environment. They will feel tired from dealing with unnecessary stuff and underappreciated which affects their morale, affecting the kids’ learning.

But since a new P is coming in, let us all give him a chance.

              Just my thoughts.

Should be the current VP not the leaving principal. After she joined the school, many
Teachers left. Maybe an ongoing problem before she joined. But situation definitely escalated after she joined. This why I thought whether is because of year head and HOD forming clique outcasting fellow teachers.

Unless there’s concrete evidence that teachers left because of this VP, this remains a speculation.

I was told that quite a number of teachers left partly due to the intense periods of high stress during the early phases of the Covid 19 pandemic. This could be a possibility regardless of the school they taught at.

We do not deny that some teachers (whether they are ‘good’ or not it’s not for me to comment) have left the service. But we should be careful not to equate that with a decline in the quality of teaching just because the ‘good’ ones have left.

That said, whether the management is toxic or not, it should not have a bearing on students’ learning. This remains office politics of their own and something for them to resolve. And if a teacher compromises his/her professionalism just because of office politics, then his/her credibility will be called into question.

Overall, I have a good impression of XMSS. I’ve not taught at XM but I have visited the school and spoke to some from the teaching staff. Take a look at their Facebook and the unique experiences that have been offered to students. I was quite impressed by them. Also, I’ve personally gone over their learning materials (English language) developed for students - they are of commendable quality. So focus on what a school could offer to your children, thus harnessing their potential to the full, when selecting a school with your child.

Wah, from last year COP 14 to now 16.

Yes, a very significant increase in COP under the new PSLE AL Score.

Increase by 2 points in PSLE Score is bad since the range for Express is 4 - 20 only.
I do not know if there is another autonomous school with a COP of 16, is there?
Even schools in Sengkang Hougang that are not autonomous have much better COP
eg SJC is 13, Holy Innocents’ High is 15.
And i understand these schools have long waiting list (hopefully what their office staff say is correct).
And to my horror, when I went over to Xinmin, I overheard teachers talking about another teacher just resigned last week (and this is still happening even though the previous Principal has been transferred out from school/MOE?).
I have decided that I will only submit my appeal for my DD to the 2 schools above - hopefully good news.
