Did you get an e-mail or SMS confirmation upon your initial submission? I never got anything from MOE other than the confirmation on-screen so I'm curious to know what others received (or didn't receive).
Meaning if u have already submitted once, but need to amend, must do it by 3pm today. That’s how I interpret it.
(I amended once ytd and received an SMS acknowledgement of the amendment. Good to know the SMS is working lol.)[/quote] -

I think DSAed student will not get any sms or email confirmation. I only get a verification slip which I downloaded for 3rd language choice submission.

Note:
Important
You need to submit your school choices online by 3pm today. If you miss the deadline, you need to go to your child's primary school from 9am to 12pm tomorrow (Wednesday, 30 November 2022).
All the best and good luck!
https://www.moe.gov.sg/secondary/s1-posting
The S1 Internet System (S1-IS) opens for 24-hour online submission from 11.30am on the day of PSLE results release. You can submit your child’s 6 preferred school choices online by 3pm on Tuesday, 29 November 2022.
[If you missed the deadline, you will have to submit the school choices through your child's primary school, from 9am to 12pm on Wednesday, 30 November 2022. This is for new submission of school choices only, and not for amendments to earlier submission.]
1) If you do not wish to travel to your child's primary school for the submission, then you need to do it online by 3pm today.
2) If you have already submitted online and want to do amendments, you need to do it online by 3pm today. -

Non-DSA kids also only get a verification slip (self-print and/or download from the final screen after online submission).

We do not key in any email address. We key in one HP number (optional, but highly recommended). This is the HP number which will receive the S1 posting result via SMS just before Xmas.
The SMS acknowledging my amendment was just a nice courtesy. I didnt get any SMS acknowledgment of the original submission (or an earlier amendment 1 day before). -

So it is the same for everyone. Only when one made an amendment then will receive sms or email or both. That means if I make any change I too will receive sms.

Especially if a student just made it to AL1/2/3/4. You can slip one AL with 0.5 to 1 mark less.
My DS is a good example. SA1 was AL5, then prelims AL9 with 3 subjects at 88, 88, 89.5. English he didn’t do well as he didn’t use the pictures well in his compo.
But fortunately he managed to recover for PSLE to get AL4 and it became a pleasant surprise for us.
This AL system is quite scary in that sense.
We saw that with our son for all his subjects. Hence we also managed his (and our own!) expectations on his PSLE performance and which school he may go to, including contingency planning for worst case scenarios..
Which came true when he got AL13 for prelims (3 higher vs. SA1) which would mean there's a good chance he will not get his first choice.
The upside was that he was a little less complacent for the PSLE and got AL9. We are of course happy but knowing how things are on such a fine edge, we will not be surprised if things swing again in the future -

Under AL marking scheme,
Especially if a student just made it to AL1/2/3/4. You can slip one AL with 0.5 to 1 mark less.
...
one must be very careful with Paper 1 (Multiple choice questions), especially. with Science MCQs. Every one wrong MCQ question, costs 2 marks gone !
It is very easy, to slip from AL4, into AL5
Eg.
If one is careful, hit 75 marks, would have gotten an AL 4.
But, if one is careless, made an extra mistake (error), can drop to 74 marks, then become ... AL 5 -

Okey Dokey. Thanks @kaisuism & @zac's mum. I didn't think that the DSA would impact the submission confirmation but I'm glad that this clears the air.

:thankyou: -
All things considered, I feel ALX +/- 2 or 3 (Total Score) is a reasonable range of outcomes for most students (not saying all students will fluctuate this much, but I don’t think it is a crazy outlier either). This is irrespective of where X is (subject to the boundary constraints).
And yes, the posting outcomes will be different on one end of the range vs. the other end. But if we just accept that, it will take a lot of pressure of the child. -

I will go for MGS IB!
Hi all!
Need advise on IP or IB school. My DD got AL6M, not sure shall put NJC at first or MGS at first choice, debate bt IP and IB. Can't decide on this and yet to submit online. My DD said NJC, but I think MGS better? will go to ACSI for last 2 years and IB in ACSI is pretty good?
If you look at ACSI IB performance, they produce many top scorers. If given a chance, please quickly grab. If you look at NJC’s A levels results, it’s not as impressive
Presentation is a soft skill which your daughter can pick up subsequently
