Hi, I know that Higher Chinese is compulsory for all Sec 1 students. Does anyone know if it is possible to drop Higher Chinese in sec 2 if the student struggles or fails the subject? Or do they have to keep taking higher Chinese until sec 3 like CCHSM?

      Thanks for any info.

2022 PSLE Cut off point (born 2010)

        O-level : 12

        Appeal form

        https://www.nanchiauhigh.moe.edu.sg/our-resources/Admission-to-NCHS/PSLE-Appeals/

(PR / Foreigner) status students can also appeal, besides Singapore Citizenship students

        =============================

All Sec 1 students, by default, will learn Higher Chinese. Even if u never taken HCL (PSLE), it is all right.

Any advice how many set of PE attire should we get? I notice there is also a polo tee, not sure if it is for PE as well?

The full black school shoe, must it be with laces?

Is there any parent group chat for S1 2023 parents?

            Below is NCH

            Official reply,
            concerning this year (2022) COP,
when I contacted the school on

            WEDNESDAY (21 December, 2022)

            ===========================
            Yes,
Nan Chiau High, no doubt, is a SAP school.

            Her 2022 COP is
            12,
            not 12(P) nor 12(M) nor 12(D)
            because

            for the O-level track -

even if a P6 pupil has never taken PSLE (HCL) before,
            it doesn't matter,
            since

all Sec 1 students in Nan Chiau High by default, will have to take HCL, once they start school next year.

            Thus,
if your PSLE score overall is AL 12 points, never taken HCL (PSLE) before, it is all right.
You can still proceed to fill up the Appeal form, if u are keen in this school. The Appeal form is found on this school's website, can google for it.

            =============================

            Note
            =====

            Anyone who don't believe that
this SAP school (NCH) this year 2022 COP is just a simple 12

            feel free,
to contact NCH at telephone number

            6489-7971

            to inquire for yourself

Hence, the ( ) at the end matters. COP is not just 12 unless the last student who enters doesn’t have HCL. That would be difficult to imagine though, as NCHS last year’s COP was 12(D).

If you have not taken HCL in primary school, you will need to score 11 or better. If you have taken HCL, you will need to meet the minimum 12 points and HCL score.

                Floppy,

Your answer, is what many people have always assumed

                just because
                NCH is a SAP school.

                Therefore,

many of us are fixated inside our mind,
                expecting a
(Pass / Merit / Distinction) to be tagged along with the COP, as it has always been in the past, historically.

                However,
my written answer (above), is the official reply received,
                from NCH SCHOOL AUTHORITY.

                Anyone who don't believe that
this year's 2022 Cut off point is just a simple 12,
                OR

feel that how come so weird (strange),
just a simple 12 for a SAP school,
not been tagged to any Pass / Merit / Distinction ?

                Well,
                do feel free,
                to contact school NCH anytime,
                to
                re-confirm for yourself.
                My pleasure !

                And
What is NCH school Telephone number ?

                6489-7971

                  To re-confirm
                  whether
what I have written / posted above, is correct or not ?

                    From 2022 COP,

                    these are my finding(s) :-

                    1)

For six IP (SAP) schools, like

                    ( Dunman High /
                    St Nick /
                    Nanyang Girls’ High /
                    Catholic High /
                    Hwa Chong /
                    River Valley High ),

                    Yes,
their COP must include a tag
                    ( Pass / Merit / Distinction ),
                    because

                    these are IP schools.

                    2)

But for the " O-level track " SAP schools, like

                    a) Nan Chiau High, no tagging,
                    just a simple 12

                    Because

All NCH students admitted in, compulsory to take Sec 1 HCL, even if have never done PSLE (HCL) before. So, u still need thus tagging for what purpose ?

                    No need,
because school NCH Chinese department already overide !

                    b) Chung Cheng High, no tagging, just a simple 11

                    The same reason, as NCH.
Compulsory for all CCHM students, to start Sec 1 HCL. So, u still need this tagging, for what ?

                    No need !

                    c) St Nick, no tagging, just a simple 8

Those who have received MOE HCL letter, can start Sec 1 HCL.

Those who didn’t receive the MOE HCL letter, cannot do Sec 1 HCL,
                    just do pu-hua.

                    But,
if St Nick students want to start Sec 2 (HCL),
                    then,

                    do well in your
                    Sec 1 (pu-hua + core subjects).
If can achieve this, then at end of Sec 1, Chinese HOD (St Nick) will give you the chance,
let u start Sec 2 (Higher Chinese).

Actually Nan Hua High also did not have a HCL alphabet behind their COP for this year and last year.

Actually I think there is no ( ) for HCL score at the end of the COP is because the COP happens to be at the 12 grade, hence, all those with 12 points and took HCL with Pass and above have been accepted into the school. So the next batch is those grade 12 with no HCL.

Those with grade 12 will have priority before 11 (D).
