You can check out the school website to find out their requirements, under DSA exercise to yr 1 or something like that. It will have info on criteria, selection process etc
Dear parents, I'd like to ask : if I see a school that offers STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Aesthetics and Mathematics) as DSA - what exactly are they looking for and what do we use to apply? For example, using Maths and Science as considered academics but in STEAM there's Maths and Science mentioned. Will robotics fall under here? -

Believe it started from page 21 at 8.46pm when someone said school A has better value add than school B….. well, stating facts and reporting official data is fine, but using half truths + half estimates + 100% personal opinion with no basis to support one’s point should be avoided….
Let’s be gracious and more responsible in our posts. Since this is a forum for parents and not kids, we should try to lead by example by not engaging in cyber bullying, “trash-talking” other schools and be more mindful of what we write and yes - to be more conscious of how we might hurt fellow parents when we make certain remarks. I am sure every parent agree with me that parenting is tough, and we are all trying our best. Since we are all in the same boat, let’s help each other out to make this parenting journey more enjoyable. As one of many silent readers on this forum, I believe quite a no of us sometimes cringe or laugh at what was said here and in other threads, can clearly spot the fear-mongers and pity the ones whose emotions got triggered along the way.. I always tell my kids to think before they speak, and maybe we parents should remind ourselves too…
Our job as parents is to support our children every step of the way, and there are many academic and non-academic “rounds” to clear - not just psle, o and a levels or which “top” school they go to. Happy parents who are open to learn from others = happy kids. And when our kids are happy, they are more likely to achieve their fullest potential. This is what we all want, isn’t it?
Ok getting out of here to watch the next round of battle at Physical:100. All the best to the dsa applicants and psle candidates!

Based on what floppy said that we need to look at two schools’ median score for comparison.
HCI median rp88, with 3 in 10 scoring rp90
RI mean rp84.4, with 1 in 4 scoring rp90
Next, is to look at the COP for the cohort intake for both schools. So we need to trace back to 2016 PSLE cop, something like tscore 261 for RI and vs 260 for HCI? But back then, HCL bonus (of up to +3) was included in computation of SAP schools’ COP. Another thing to take note is, NYPS girls enjoy affiliation to NYGH with tscore at tscore 250. For JAE intake, I think the COP was 4pts (Sc) and 5pts (Arts) for both JCs then. How about GEP intake? RI or HCI takes in more GEP students each year?
So if my daughter were to enter NYGH via affiliation with 247+3 and 6yrs later scored rp88-90, I will be super duper happy. I definitely prefer schools that value-add than value-subtract.
From the quality of the intake of students to compare the results they churn out after 6 years (or 2yrs for JAE), we can reach our own conclusion which school value-adds more to her students. I guess that’s what CCK2008 meant and if I m not mistaken, I think CCK2008 has two girls from both schools, so inevitably she tends to compare. -

Can we just move on from comparing which is the better school? Both are good and as parents, need to guide our kids to which is better FOR THE CHILD instead of looking at averages.
From CCK2008 posts, I feel there is bias, probably stemming from personal experience of her daughter in RGS/RI (which I sincerely hope the girl has since overcome). Let’s focus to keep discussions in this forum useful for the parents and kids who are participating in DSA 2023 (or later) 🙏🏽
