      Dear Sir/ Madam,

      I never said 50% balloting and 50% P5 exam.

I said, you must be in top 50% of your school then you become eligible. Once you are eligible, it will go to balloting if there are more applications. If you are not successful in balloting, you have several months to prepare for PSLE.

Have fun writing your essays without reading fully and understanding.

Also, enjoy being stuck in the policies or system of the past when the topic is about the future.
Do you mean that using the school exams, the top 50% of each school will have a chance to choose their secondary schools first as thru-train from S1-S6 but will be subjected to balloting if the school is oversubscribed? Then the lower 50% will take the PSLE exam and then select their school choices? Did I understand you rightly?

Sorry I did not backtrack to read your original proposal, just asking based on what I read above.

Who are the \"many of us\"?

Yes everyone can read back and check.

If someone don't read and understand and repeatedly attribute things to me that I haven't said, I need not accept. There is pattern here on twisting and adding different things / meanings and taking the topic tangential....walk in circles basically. So. Have fun.
        Avenue3,

        As mentioned,
if u got nothing concrete nor substantial to counter offer years of decade PSLE rooted implementation In Singapore,
then don't mind, can u do us a favor ? That is,

can u pls take a back seat, keep quiet,

        And
let others a chance to come forward and make their stand, clearly ?
Otherwise, Avenue3, u are just simply wasting everybody's time here, going round & round in circle, barking and yelping, but useless. Sorry we have to tell you this.

        =========================

To All of u out here,

if anyone got any worthy / worthwhile proposal to counter offer,
        then as a reader,
this is what I would like to see, to read.

        Clear communication, require skills.

To have a clear communication, with your audience out here, in order to build rapport with your audience,
        can u
help to breakdown into following clear communication category ?

        1) problem definition

highlight or explain to to all of us here, very clearly, what are the underlying problems with current PSLE ?

State your problem(s) clearly, one by one, so that everyone here can understand.

        2) State your proposal, clearly.

propose your so called defined Secondary school solution, Through Train programme?

How does your suggestion, actually going to take place ?

        What then,
are the criteria needed to fulfill, this Through Train programme, without having to sit for PSLE ?

State these criteria out clearly, one by one, so that everyone can follow, can understand.

        3) benefits

        What benefits, tangible or intangible,
        can one reap,
if we were to adopt your strategy, or if MOE also see where u are coming from, were to adopt your strategy, one day in future ?

Thank you, everyone, for your precious, valuable time.

Yes. A new school for about 500 students for starters. But O level is compulsory and some drop off at O-level. Only about 400 go to A level.

I believe what he meant was actually through train from P1 to S4 without PSLE. S4 take O levels. Further progress will depend on O level results.

Basically kicking major stress point down the road from P6 to S4.

Right. And you have option to remain for A level if you top 80%.

CCS will move portfolio, someone else could do. We did ever imagine that streams will be removed and SSB will be introduced?

I am not expecting this will happen soon anyways...just saying that these are my thoughts.

                  Also, never say never.
so far, even with all the changes we see in the edu system all these years: streaming, FSBB, IP, DSA, PSLE still remained, isn’t it? PSLE serves an important sorting role so students can get a fitting education and avoid all the problem down the roads( the discussion on it has been mentioned many many times already). TT by doing away with PSLE , seem unlikely. You may read all the way back on this thread for the discussion on it, the mitigations the current system has to counter the “stress PSLE brings”. And also on why some students can skip O level with their PSLE results. And why it is better to sort earlier at P6 than at O level- so students can have earlier intervention when their mind is still
                  relatively flexible.

                    I get the concept now.

Whether top 80% or whatever to remain for A level is only a matter of detail.

Dunno what was so difficult to understand. 🤷

I am no advocating completely scrapping. I am advising for about 500 students where parents know for sure their kids are late bloomers and want their kids to take a different set of exams.

To be honest I dont think Avenue3 knows what he or she is talking about and just making things up as he goes along.

If talking about P1 to S4, TT which we are already been discussing, then what exactly is

S1-S6, take O-level and A level in the same school, balloting for S1 enrollment using P5 school exam etc.
or be fair, if IP take PSLE and A-level, S1-S6 student need to take both O-level and A-level

when people like to put the cart before the horse, they will always have to make things up, reinvent the wheel and then forget what was said before realizing that incoherent and inconsistent thought process.
