Yes, of course !
...
Even with TT system, there will also be ranking in popularity
Those TT Secondary schools that churn out better O-level results, will be highly favoured upon, be highly sought after, even when P6 students were to by-pass PSLE, fill up their 6 choices of TT Secondary schools. That is,
1) TT Secondary school A, will have produced better O-level results, than TT school B.
2)TT Secondary school B, will have produced better O-level results, than TT school C.
3) TT Secondary school C, will have produced better O-level results, than TT school D.
4) so on, and so forth
5) ...
6) your last choice, #6 TT school
And in the end, which TT school will u be admitted into ?
Still got to sit for that particular TT school's admission Sec 1 test. Ya, even though u bypassed PSLE, still got to take all these admission tests.
Why ?
In the event TT school A, ranked highly due to good O-level results produced, is been highly sought after. In other words, there are MORE number of applicants, than the number of vacancies, for Sec 1 available. So end up, got to sit for admission tests.
But of course, the actual PSLE papers will be many times more challenging, tougher than any of these TT Sec schools' admission tests (subject), administered, for Sec 1 entry. -

It's funny how the topic keeps drifting into IP and meritocracy right with no relevance? The competitive mind is on 24/7 even when there is no need to compete.
I have news for you. A small island is surrounded by the sea.
:slapshead:
Anyway, this thread is about TT from primary school to secondary, not TT to A levels or IB. Dunno what it has to do with IP or meritocracy.
I don't think anybody is suggesting TT to IP.

Selection and posting to IP or mainstream school is the same as students will take the same PSLE exam and make their selection or decision based on PSLE result.

Those who do well in PSLE, may consider IP or mainstream depending on results and indicative COP.
Competition for IP or popular mainstream schools is the same because demand always exceeds vacancies. I think competition for IP schools may be even tighter because the mark difference between AL5-AL6-AL7 could just be a few T-score difference as oppose to say AL13 to AL20
At P1 age, it's very difficult to tell which students will end up in IP, so we should not exclude the possibility of IP selection if TT students are given a choice. Just like ACS-affiliated schools, those who do extremely well for PSLE, are likely to take the IB program or join other IP schools without affiliation advantages. -

how about identify those TT schools, that u want your kids to go to?
Can
Leave out naming all those IP (single and dual track) schools, because all these require PSLE exam . So leave out ACSI, bec to enter ACSI, u need to sit for PSLE, apart from DSA.
Bec when u are talking about TT schools, aren't we talking about BYPASS Psle, Not sitting for Psle ? -

We all know the current system very well already and that's why discussing if there is a better way for the kids to learn and live.

Identifying TT schools is a job for MOE, they run the schools, also written in earlier posts already. -

No lah. Academic studies is not the end all or be all. Otherwise we will end up with a bunch of δΉ¦εε.
If academic studies = climbing tree, then you ought to use a better example than fish and monkey.
Perhaps a cheetah and a monkey, is better,
both can climbs but monkey is better.
Both can run, but cheetah is faster.
I would rather say students are like different flowers and plants, and their diversity it what makes a beautiful garden.
The whole point about the trees is to point out that there are other things apart from trees. So don't be so one track mind about trees, ie academic studies. -

If you haven't noticed, the underlying interest or concern about PSLE, TT or affiliation is still centered around secondary school posting, about parent desire to send their kids into good sec schools without PSLE, or PSLE remains the most relevant exam to facilitate secondary school posting, be it IP or mainstream.

Like it or not PSLE = academic studies, so I think there is no point in going OT to discuss other matters since most agree that PSLE is here to stay, or debating if fish can climb trees. -

\"Better\" is subjective, different families and students find fulfillment, motivation, and purpose in different things.
We all know the current system very well already and that's why discussing if there is a better way for the kids to learn and live.
So who are we to say who is right or who is wrong or conjecture about how other students study to get good grades or how should we live?
The only thing I know is the common here is the desire in parents to send their kids to good schools. -

Interestingly, not too long after I posted this link, the page is no longer available.
I believe the only school that publishes their O-level result is ACS(I)
https://www.acsindep.moe.edu.sg/lp_announcement/acs-independents-2020-o-level-results/
Not sure if this is a technical glitch?
