Grades for both Higher MTL (Higher Chinese, Higher Malay and Higher Tamil) and MTL (Chinese, Malay and Tamil) in the same aggregate computation.


For example

if Higher Chinese is used as the first language, then Chinese cannot be used as a relevant subject.

The key important question that u need to
ask yourself now, is :-

In view of or fuelled by the brand new A-level points computation Ranking system -

should you then
continue to choose the A-level Junior Colleges path

OR

head for, choose the IB path instead,
at SJI / ACSI,

for your final, last lap of education journey, with only a very short run way with 1.5 to two years left, which time soon passes swiftly by in the twinkle of an eye, after completing your last O-level paper, in November 2023, this year ?

At Sec 4 now, aged 16, u are a more mature thinking person (adolescent) now, no longer a PSLE kid where your mom or Dad used to make major decisions for u back then, even to the point of helping u to decide which DSA Secondary schools to apply for, during PSLE time 4 years ago -


Which path,
do you think or do u prefer, suits u much better ?
Is it the A-level or the IB path ?

And in order to answer this question honestly & truthfully, may need to ask yourself another question, to help yourself answer :-

Actually, which career path,
am I interested in or opting for,
by the time I reach 18 years old ?

If your daughter want to try 3 schools, then fill up the maximum 3 DSA slots with Rhythmic gymnastics IP (RGS + St Nick) + Dance (Dunman High IP).

Since St Nick is dual track, u choose IP first. But during the interview, assuming that she is being short listed, your daughter must explicitly tell the interviewers directly, that -

If she is not given IP, she also don't mind being offered O-level track. This is impt. Your daughter need to tell them very clearly out-front, during interview. Because if she were to keep quiet, never say anything, then interviewer will just assume that your girl is interested only in IP, nothing else, not even in O-level. So, choose \"No preference\" option, for St Nick (RG domain). But must inform interviewers out-front clearly, during the interview, what u want.

But of course, the other way round, will also happen. St Nick Interviewers can also ask your daughter,

\"so, given a choice, which one do u actually prefer ? You prefer IP or O-level ? Why ? \"

Therefore, do prepare how to answer this question first at home, before your girl goes down for interview, if she has been short-listed.

At home, be honest, be truthful, when discuss with your daughter & spouse together, openly :-

1)
can your P6 daughter cope with IP rigor, because if she is accepted for Rhythmic Gymnastics (DSA for RG), the Sports training can be held 3x per week or even more sometimes, closer towards the competition time against other Secondary schools ?

If is Non-competition time, twice a week RG training conducted. Your daughter may clarify this herself one more time, when she is called up for RG interview.

2)
does your girl want to be fixated to only Eunoia Junior College, in Year 5

OR

does she prefer to have the freedom, the option, after complete her O-level,
to join
IB (ACSI or SJI) in Year 5,

or join
another Junior College (for A-level), like RI or Hwa Chong ?

OR

3)
does your daughter prefer to join O-level track in Lower Secondary first ?

Then, come to the end of Sec 2, if your daughter still prefer IP, then seek Transfer at end of Sec 2, starting Sec 3 (IP) ?

Some of our O-level girls also choose this path,
Because

In their Lower Secondary Cca time, they chit chat with a lot of their Senior Cca mates, talk to them for advice, find out more about what exactly IP curriculum entail. This way, they obtained first hand info (knowledge), of IP. And they get to like our St Nick IP, and they are also confident of themselves, coping. So, at end of Sec 2, they approached our VP (Academic) & made a Transfer across into IP, starting Sec 3 (IP).

Over here, in St Nick,
after finished their O-level exam,

some of our girls joined A-level (RI + Hwa Chong).

Our St Nick O-level track curriculum is value-added. As such, out of Total six Sec 4 O-level classes, majority of our girls do very well, excel at O-level. When our school Principal released O level results on the stage this year, on 12 January 2023, the performance cohort from 2022 O-level girls, born in year 2006, was excellent !

In fact,
more girls joined Hwa Chong, after their O-level, because of the similar SAP environment, shared with St Nick.
Fewer JAE girls joined Raffles Institution, though. More O-level girls prefer the school culture in Hwa Chong, than RI.

For those who are contemplating IB curriculum in Year 5 and Year 6 at either ACSI or SJI

now, when u are in dilemma at P6 ,
over whether
to choose St Nick (IP or O-level) Secondary school track for your DSA P6 daughter, hear what Principal of ACSI had said inside the Auditorium, standing on the stage, that Saturday morning.

On Saturday, 15 April 2023,
ACSI conducted an Open house, to public. Many P6 (parents + students) turned up, inside the Auditorium briefing. This was what she (the Officer in charge) spoke, standing on the stage -

She said that
those students who are considering Year 5 and Year 6 IB curriculum,
at ACSI ( the " I " here is refering to Independent, not to International) -

students who are currently studying in any IP (A-level) Secondary school,

are NOT allowed
To seek transfer into ACSI (IB),
at Year 5.
Take note, because
if your P6 daughter is keen (interested) in IB at Year 5, then u (parent) know that u should not be applying for IP (A-level) programme here, in St Nick.

Once July (Semester 2) starts, no more weekly free Maths tuition conducted by our school Maths teachers, but plenty of Practice mock past years’ papers awaiting u, week after week :-

if they (Teachers) think that you need help.

even if your Sec 4 class Pure Science Teacher didn’t identify u, didn’t contact u,
but
If you (pupil) yourself personally feel that u too need help, u can also attend these available tuition-in-school classes. Just inform your class Science Teacher, that u wish to attend too. Then, your class Science Tr will connect u to the in-house school premises Sec 4 tuition subject Teacher. That’s how we help to strengthen our students altogether, whoever need help in that whichever academic subject,
prepare for O-level .

The help from our school, is always there.
Only concern is,
whether u can find time + energy to attend, because of other Cca commitments, over and above balancing your heavy workload of studying (8 or 9 or 10 subjects), etc.
