Hi, Anyone’s DD received an invite to NYGH Summer Camp? Does it help in DSA application or is it a ‘promotional camp’ to introduce the school to the kids?

            Hello everyone

Is there any parent/kids who can share DSA leadership experience with IP school?

We would like to know more what we need to prepare interview, personal statement and so on.

Also want to know chance of getting DSA leadership according to previous experience if the kid is holding Head prefect/Vice Head prefect position with AL6/7 but not Singaporean.
            Personal statement is not allowed.

Some schools do request for submission of personal statements as part of their process (upfront stated on their website). This is after the DSA portal has closed. The schools will usually email the candidates directly for submission of personal statements.

My kid was informed it was not allowed while attending DSA session organised by primary school last year. So I guess it was referring to submission to DSA portal then.

Hi if my son is getting COP of AL14 in P5 exam, would he be able to apply for DSA at a AL8 school? I was reading in some parents chatgroup that the COP must be close to the COP of the school. He is going for MEP, IP schools are AL8. I am hoping that this is not the case.

This really depends on each school’s internal assessment criteria. I have heard of differing practices but one thing for sure, the competition in the talent area in IP school is very high so first bar to cross is to be among the top talents within the domain before the COP consideration comes in. Personal view is AL14 for P5 exam seems ok as it has to be taken into consideration with the results in P5-P6. This batch has lack of exams so P5 exam results may not be reflective.

Yes, he absolutely can. But much depends on the DSA he is pursuing. Nothing stops him from applying and he has a decent chance especially if it's for a talent which your son has done well in. I believe the schools have an affinity for students which are closer grade-wise but if they recognize a talent which they could tap, I'm confident that they are prepared to stretch their welcome. (I'm speaking from experience 😄)
