For our intellectual entertainment: These are put together from my old data collections. I only pick a few sample points to show here, to provide some indication. These are T scores mapped to indicative AL score published prior the first AL graded PSLE exam. My opinion is we should not expect precise , clear cut and fixed T score boundaries in the AL bands. We should expect a little over lapping, and deviation too assuming it is done yearly, because of the natural of AL banding.

In this context, AL 5 is roughly equivalent to a T-Score of 261±3. -
I recall (and some parents have also mentioned it too), one of the possible reasons for the inconsistency when mapping T score to AL score could be due to higher Chinese grades. In T score days, it was + 3, + 2 or + 1 for distinction, merit and pass in higher Chinese. For 2 students, 1 with a distinction in HCL would have gotten 260+ 3= 263, and other student without HCL will be 260. In current AL banding , both of them are in AL6 (or 5). So we are seeing AL6(or 5) mapped to 260 and 263.

Oh ok, got your point. Yes on Sch finder, it’s inclusive of HMT for SAP schools. Not sure how MOE mapped them to AL though.

All I did was asking questions to clarify which you were doing too, so I am not sure where fault and leaving arises? I do appreciate discussion which prompt and seek closer to truth if possible as I am interested in these topics which I engaged mself in for leisure as I do wonder a lot.
One, I'm not asking MOE to explain anything. Two, I think you usually have many good things to say, and should believe whatever you want to believe.
Frankly, I think the chance that at AL6 stops at 3% and AL9 stops at 10% is essentially zero. But it doesn't really matter, and now I remember why I left and have refrained from many of the discussions like this in recent times (in the past, problems were partly my own fault).

I do believe that there is some rationale with ESIS COP and that AL4-5 group should be lesser than top 5% students taking O levels, generally.
I did think otherwise in the past which differed which some grandmasters numbers guru from before so I am not taking the credits for the above but I do understand why they said what they did better now. It was mentioned before, the ESIS COP thru PSLE should be for around top 1-2%. Seems to be reasonable; it being similar size as GEP.
