I think what I'm about to put here might surprise some of you.

My hubby & I have 'by-passed' Phase 1 for daughter. It has been a roller coaster of sorts for the past few months b4 we decided to make this decision. This Thursday, we will register her at CHIJ TP under Phase 2A2.

My son is an average kid. Coaching him in his studies has been tough on us for the past few years, esp at P3. We coach him as much as we can, although he has tuition for Chinese and English enrichment. For daughter, we plan to use the same approach to coach her, hopefully she will be able to do well and build up her foundation.

No problem. You would see the result in due course so long as you are persistent. Last year, DD CA1 Maths was only 66 but after daily working in two problem sum for a period of time finally the SA2 she scored 95. 加油

Since we have decided to register her in another school, we will still be applying the same approach to teach her.


Son’s Math plunged to 65 in P3 for CA. It was very shocking bcos we never expected the dip to be so drastic although we know it will be harder. So now I get him to work on 5 problem sums every week.

Yes. Practice makes perfect. Once the child gets more exposure to all types of problem sum, they would find the maths is not that difficult to tackle. I’m sure your son would be very excited once he sees the improvement after the hard work.

For Math, fortunately the best and only way to improve is through practice. As such I got him a not so challenging assessment book in June. His thoughtful form teacher has also started remedial for several of them. I hope he can pull himself together to push his grades up for SA2.

Frankly, IJJ is the more discerning mum here when it comes to her girls' education. I wish I could be just as decisive and firm. Looking at my no. 2 who is the more artsy one, sometimes I do wonder whether PH will be the right fit for her? However, I know, out of convenience, we'll probably register her in the same school when the time comes. Hmm...like not very fair to her...haha...

No lah, I am sure you would likely do similar if you were in my shoes. :lol: My child's CL then was inordinarily errr.... behind. :lol: My first child did not have most of her preschool education in Singapore, hence her lousy CL. If she had been in Singapore for entire K1&2, I guess I would not have placed her elsewhere. PH was and is still my top choice considering the Christian environment and academic achievements. Now after 1 year of transfer into this school, my child loves the school even more and this love positively inspired my #2. :lol:

I guess my 2 younger ones would end up in PH when their times come, which I suppose I would not want to go through unnec round of P1 reg in another school. Ain't I bias? :oops: E3, my #2 is also the more artsy one. I have not given any thot yet ...until you mention it, is PH a good fit for her? Hmm...

I kudos Janet for making such decision. Not easy esp you have gone through one round of heart blobbing P1 registration years ago. Thankfully, you have another good school to fall back on. I am sure your children will appreciate all your thots and efforts even before they start their formal education journey.

Then more good news, I know at least 2 of my churchmates who qualified for P2B, also decided to give up PH reg to place their children elsewhere. Yeah more slots for you.

The dates on PH term 3 calender is incorrect. 27/28/29 Jul cannot be under week 2.

yes, i noticed later the dates were changed to 27-29 July. the 1st version was 7-9 july which gave me a shock.

Yes, I’ve done a noble decision…to give up my daughter’s place to give someone a chance be in Pei Hwa. HaHaHa.
Given Pei Hwa’s committment (although non-guaranteed), the school will try to take in all the kids whose parents did PV.

Pei Hwa is a good school, no doubt about that.
We wrote in to the school, called the school to enquire our application to be PV, got rejected and then chosen again to be PV. At Phase 2B, our hearts were still thumping away worrying when the confirmation will be known.

I asked hubby if he’s serious NOT registering daughter there, after all the hours and hardwork getting into the school. He gave me the same reply each time - NO regrets. Just apply the experience learnt to coach daughter.
