I believe these are the minorities. There is no moral obligation to continue. For grassroot, there is.

It take much more commitment to be a Community Leaders than a school PV. But one good advantage is u can apply to those super hot schools that don't accept PV.

Yes, and it doesn't stop after your kid is in school (unlike PV), or at least it is not meant to be.

there are parents who continue in their PV even after the kids have left school .....[/quote]For Community Leaders u may have to contribute hundreds of hours before the chairman write u the letter for 2B. Whereas PV u can :siam: after 40hrs

it shows and disproves that PV is just merely for the sake of getting the child into the school. after a while the PV realises that there a whole lot meaning / fulfilment doing PV for the school

this kind of continuing PV also strengthens the PTA and is good for the school development, and not necessarily means depriving another of a PV slot as the 'old' PV does not \"occupy\" a \"countable\" slot. The school knows how to manage that.

The primary school I am looking at is quite new and does not belongs to any clan, no alot of old boys yet, so I think it will be easier for me to enroll my kid, still 3 years before time for primary 1.

But any 1 know beside been near the school and do volunteer work, any way to increase the chances of getting into the school?

I think it works this way:

              Guaranteed:
              - If a parent is an alumni or staff of the school, or
              - If an older sibling is currently studying in the school, or

Better chance (access to earlier rounds of balloting)
              - If you stay within X kilometers away, and
              - If you do some volunteer work for at least Y years (Y normally 2), or
              - You are the member of some benefactory group to the school (clan, etc)

              No chance
              - If you stay > X kilometers away from the school

I had submitted my name as PV for Nanyang. I'm staying outside 2km from the school. wonder what my chance of being chosen is? Any idea? Thanks

It will be quite unsecure… As there will be balloting for P2b (Maybe) if the vacancy is exceed… However, wish u gd luck and get selected by NYPS.

this year those PV outside 2 km got to ballot

to be more secure, live within 1 km and PV and be a citizen

Understand that some of the schools are now accepting applications for babies born in 2006 onwards, can I deduce that applications are also welcome for those babies born beyond 2006?
