Her reason being... she still wanted to remain a virgin.

Well, that said.. her threshold of pain isn't what one wud deem that strong.

Didn't go through any labour pains. Baby hadn't moved for over 12 hours. They tried to induce but nothing happened. Baby was in distress and doc suggested an emergency C-section. I recall when they were monitoring the baby's heartbeat (which was irregular) , I was still busy on my handphone trying to locate dh to come back to Spore ASAP. Nurses were not very happy as they said that the mobile interfered with the electronic equipments in the room. It was quite nerve-wrecking, to hear \"teet, teet ..................................................... everyone holding their breath for the longest time, waiting and then finally another teet\". 😉

As they pushed me to the OP, the nurse remarked that I should not have painted all my toenails. Well, noone told me that. They gave me an epidural so that I was awake during the surgery. That scared me more than anything. I recall cracking jokes with the anaesthetician to take my mind of the feel of the cold equipments, doctors giving instructions to their aides and that weird tugging when they pulled the baby out. When the nurse placed the baby on me, I was quite disgusted cos there were still some whitish stuff on the baby and it looked like an alien with huge eyes and all skin and bones. Uhmm, I was like \"Please take it away.\"

Doc explained that the umbilical corded was tightly twisted around baby's neck 3 times. hence the baby was being starved of oxygen and food.

            Birth Story - DD

When preggy with DD, I was actually hyper. As it is, I have pretty bad sleep pattern and will suffer from periodic insomnia. But when preggy with DD, it was bad. I was not sleeping well at all but still very hyper in the day, thot nothing of it cos I was still functioning. It was only during a checkup when my gynae said that dd’s growth is not on track. After checking all the possible causes, he decided to give me some mild sleeping pills. Throughout the pregnancy, dd was on the smallish side but her head was big. Base on scans, her head size is 1-2weeks bigger then the normal size but her body is 1 week behind, base on normal gestational size guide.

I was considering c-sect after hearing so many cases of frens ending up having to go for emergency c-sect, but my doc advised to go for natural since all seems well. So natural it is and my gynae is all for comfort during delivery so he suggested epi. And I agreed. I want my delivery to be a good experience not one where the pain takes centrestage.

When I went for my normal checkup at 38 weeks, urine test showed high protein, and blood pressure was high. Doc said to observe and told me to go back again 2 days later, I was also seeing spots and started having very bad water retention. 2 days later, I went back protein and blood pressure was higher then b4. Doc poke poke to losen cervical plug told me to admit the next day and gonna induce.

Admitted on a Sunday night, feet were so swollen I was wearing my slippers half in and half out. In the room, nurse inserted a pill to soften the cervix then hooked me up to a contraction monitor. Dh stayed with me but promptly fell asleep on a creaky sofa bed. Throughout the night, the nurses kept coming to check in me so did not sleep at all. At 6am, they gave me a small cup of milo and 1/2 slice of toast. Then the prep work start, enema, shaving and off to delivery ward.

At 8am, anesthesiologist came and administered the epi. DH went pale upon seeing the size of the needle. I was able to control the amt of epi through a dial. Then the drip came, it was supposed to speed up the dilation of the cervix and the contractions. Since wasn’t feeling much pain except for a slight crampy feeling on my lower back, I basically turned the epi dial to 0. Then came the long wait. DH fell asleep again, I finished a novel, was super thirsty but was refused water. By noon still no movement, DH went for lunch, was restless, so I sent him out, he was irritating me by pacing and sighing. Then at 2pm, I started feeling stronger contractions but still bearable. Gynae came to check on me, say soon. At about 3pm, a flurry of activities started, they converted the bed, put my legs on the stirrup and said time to push. I was starting to feel each contraction so wanted to turn on the epi dial, but the nurse had pushed it beyond my reach when setting me up for delivery. When I asked for the dial she turned and said wah still full syringe and still got another tube, then she flushed it all into my system. I did not want that, but b4 I can say anything the drug was in me oredi. That was when I started shivering and my legs started flopping. I got no control of my legs and cannot feel anything so no idea when to push or how to push. I heard that once dilated, very fast, but for me, I push and push and push but each time DD still did not appear. Then gynae said DD’s not in the right position, instead facing down with her crown pushing through first, she was facing up with the entire circumference of her head trying to push thru. Doc tried to turn her but she was stuck. So Doc said to continue pushing then he went on to attend to his other case. Told the nurse to call him when DD is ready to come out. With each contraction, I pushed and pushed and pushed and thereafter the nurse will check and say nope, not moving. Then DD’s heart rate started getting eratic, so they hooked me up on O2, saying each time there’s contraction, the umblical cord is being compressed as such DD’s heart rate drops. I pushed for over an hour and the nurse kept saying no progress. Finally I got fedup, told the nurse get the doc here NOW and get the baby out NOW. My Doc came within the next 10 mins, checked and say ok can try forcep. I told him if I end up emergency c-sect I not paying the surcharge cos he convinced me to go natural. He told me dun worry. So with forcep, DD greeted us with a huge howl finally at 4.27pm. Doc say to DH in canto this girl very curious, you will have your hands full, cos she came out with her eyes open and looking up at the sky not on the ground. And bcos her head was big and she came out in the wrong position, my cut was from v to a. And due to the trauma to my nether regions, I was confined to bed for 1 full day and stayed an extra day. When I went home, I realise I had trouble controlling flatulence and bowels. Issues with bowels lasted about 2 weeks for flatulence over 1mth. Becos of that, recovery was a bitch.

At my 6 week checkup, I told my gynae, next one definitely c-sect, he totally agreed.

Okay, later for DS’s birth story.

                Funz,

Your DD is born looking up to the sky, same like mine! My DD and DS2 are both born this way and both time I didn’t have any epi so you can imagine the pain and the tear from v to a. My gynae also didn’t expect DS2 to born the same way as his sister and he remarked that hope my #4 wont be like that. Haha.

I got married at 39 and pregnant at 40. All natural conception.

I had a non-eventful pregnancy. No symptoms no illness. Very lucky. I put on 8 kilos in total.
Though blessed and doing very well, right up close to the delivery date, I chose an elective c-section as I was concerned being an advanced age Mom. I wanted DD out in 5 mins and checked out by her PD. Me? They can take their time sewing me up, I'm not worried about me.
I had an epidural. DH was with me. We both cried when they brought DD to me. She looked perfect and smiled at me although her eyes were closed.
I had my c-section at 3pm. At 5pm, I walked to the nursery to look for DD to breastfeed her.
DD is almost 10 months young

                    Hi

                    Like to ask:

                    1. Anyone chose elective c-section, and why? Other than medical reasons.

                    2. Anyone has more than 1 c-section and how many times?

                    Thanks.
I had 2 c-sects. My gynae said can still try #3 (last) but must be by C-sect.

DD1 was 3 days overdue with ZERO signs of labour. Gynae suggested induce. After 2 induction, 8hrs each, still ZERO labour pain and no dilation. So my gynae said no use waiting already, go for C-sect.

DD2 was thriving in my womb. Super small and not gaining much weight. She was expected to be habouring ard 2.5kg only. At week 37, Gynae shared his concern that DD2 will have trauma if we go thru normal delivery and she being so small might be very risky. So we followed his advice and scheduled for c-sect at Wk38.

I mean... look at her chubby self lying
there in there as your avatar ever so
                      sweetly..

At 40 uh.. and here i am so embarrassed
having another baby at my age.
My #1 will be almost 10yrs old by the
                      time my #3 arrives.

                      #1 and #2 both girls. #1 took 13hrs of
labour experience. I survived without any
epidural, despite the nurses telling me i shud..
and that i better take it before it's too late. For
me... i wanted to feel the most natural experience
of motherhood. Yup, as natural as can be. :stupid:
Thinking that hey.. my gramma had like 9 kids only
with the midwife in the kampong! So, with my gungho
attitude, i went head on into labour... equipped only wif
prayers. Hubs didn't help with the contractions even for
a little bit from all that fidgeting. Just made it worse. :x

#1 came out still sleeping quietly and had to be pat on the
bum upside down and she let out a small cry and went back
                      to sleep.

#2, i insisted NOT to go to the hospital too early as experienced
with the 1st one. Must have time to have nice long shower, EAT!..
Even got time to apply make up... so i was one nice not-pale
looking mom after delivery. #2 was all done in 1.5hrs.
Fast and furious. Both times water bag didn't burst despite
                      already quite dilated.

Going in too early into the labour room only meant more times
the doc wud be coming in to to measure finger. So, i learnt
to control my contractions. We flagged a cab only when i was
having 2min contractions. No epidural for #2 as well, but since
it was furiously fast, i was a wee bit noisy in my breathing as
compared to #1, smooth.. slow and steady.

Will i decide to take epidural for #3...? Hmm... 😐 I don't know
yet. Many friends who took shared they experienced side effects
especially during cold days/nights. So... will see.
