i read back and just realised those registering at phase 2c, the school doesnt count the number of applicants by distance real time. Only AFTER phase then know? Like that no sense lei. Cos if parents know will switch to another school with higher chance of getting in. Hmmm…

Another choice is to ask within 1km to register first as they have first priority, then if space available, let 1-2km to register, then 2km. It can ensure that every one at least has chance to ballot. Otherwise, for example if 1-2km knew unsuccessful (as <1km needs ballot) only after phase registration, they have to wait until 2C supplement. They cannot switch to another school any more.

In Shuqun, they did post the registration numbers, and broke down into distance. I went to register just 1hr before the closing time, on the last day, and was second/third person exceeding the quota for <1km applicants. The sch did ask if I was staying <1Km. Given just 1 hr to go, I guess it may be too late to inform those staying more than 1Km. Perhaps MOE should consider having extra time (another 0.5 days?) if such situation arises in the last minute. Again, historically or the last few years, Shuqun has never need to ballot for <1km under phase 2C, so they may be caught off guard as well

In the case of Rulang, they only allow <1Km to apply after day 1 of phase 2C.

Agreed! compare between Neighborhood and Elite school these few years, Neighborhood is doing extremely well!
