Hi Yogini,

Swiss Cottage Primary has such a nice ring to it.
Had wonderful memories during those years there...can still remember the layout of the school, canteen, dental clinic, principal's office. Oh yes, even my 1st crush
Not to forget the nice principal Mr Ratnagopal.

Unfortunately, the school has merged and is now located in Balestier. My older cousins as well as my younger brother & I attended Swiss Cottage.

        mummy of 3:
She lived within 1km of Henry Park primary but she chose to PV at NYPS? Don't tell me she is going to rent a place in bt timah when she already has one in mt Sinai? Wah...

I think she will choose HPPS as her P2C choice if NYPS cant get in at P2B.

actually she can just buy another property within 1km of NYPS to increase her chances too.
Seems like next year onward the chances of balloting among all these \"Super Hot School\" are unavoidable between those less than < 1 km, therefore has to think and plan the strategy well if you die die must go

I spent the best of my childhood years at Swiss Cottage. The nasi lemak with mee rebus gravy from our tuckshop was what I missed. They also had some of the best teachers like Mr Lee Hong Leong, Mr Chua, Mr Tan, Mrs Goh, Mrs Alice Fong. It has been 30 years but I still rate them as top notch teachers, in fact the best that I have come across in my life. I went to NYGH and Hwa Chong after SCPS but I still miss the good ole teachers from SCPS. Mr Gopal was outstanding too. I remembered the one time when he caned a boy on the stage, the pain on Mr Gopal's face as he caned the boy was something that stayed with me. 😞 these are signs that I am getting old - keep thinking about the past...

            Hi shaynamommy,

I remember Mr Ng (Chinese teacher) who recommended a Chinese tutor...a Mr Lee, Mrs Huang. It has been a long time but they are really top notch. Even remember learning to say the Pledge in Malay.
Those years spent there are really memorable. Thinking about the past doesn't mean we are getting old. 😉

...just PRs, who enjoy the benefits only and do not give back to the country ....

more over, get this: PRs can go ballot, if fail never mind, can always go international school. SCs, if fail in the ballot, REAL big problem: SC will have to be posted to a local school. SC cannot go to international school. (ok , can, but you must appeal to MOE, with strong reasons, etc).

that's why for PR, there is nothing to lose for a ballot.

SC should really be given priority in education, medical, and welfare benefits. This is the norm in every country. If I go US/Aussie, I'm prepared to be treated as 2nd class simply because I'm not native there.

In Australia, PR and Citizen are treated exactly the same. Medical, School, Welfare. Everything. There is only one difference and that's PR cannot vote.

the above highlighted statement is extremely xenophobic and unfair

though this is not the right place to debate this, there are many businesses owned and managed by PRs who employed so many SC

As for 'lhong68''s comment, that was exactly what S'pore PR's position was supposed to be until .....

(I make the above comment at the risk of being stoned .....)

haha…i don’t think you will be stoned…otherwise we have bigger things to worry about…

Singapore is a small country and requires immigrants to further grow the country - this is fact of life and the earlier people accept this the better it is!!!

This is also gov’t message in this years NDP address 🙂

In fact Swiss Cottag was a very good school....10 of us boys made it to RI and 2 girls to RGS durng my year.

I remember the school and teachers fondly, especially the arduos walk up the hill to the school 🙂

                        Hi stetan,

Both my cousins were from Swiss Cottage, went to RI and RJC too. Wonder if you are classmates with them. Oh yes, I remember Mrs Leong too.
Swiss Cottage Pri was a very good school and it’s such a pity it is no longer around.

To avoid the traffic congestion in the school compound, all of us would have to walk down the hill to Swiss Cottage Sec to wait for my uncle to pick us up after school.
