      RGS vs HYGH http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/161021/results.

Thanks snowz for sharing.....so it is generally perceived that RI and ACS boys would date RGS gals and not NYGH girls. 😉

Don't read too much into the result of the survey which was done in 2004. A lot has changed. The sample size is small and perhaps made up of a lot of teenagers who have different needs during that stage in their lives. RI and ACS boys like other Singaporeans would prefer girls from overseas when they grow up IMHO. These overseas girls are much more realistic and desirable than RGS or NYGH ones.

Let me ask my current RI little friends to see if opinions have changed. 😐 I got a feeling..some things never changed. 😉

              RGS vs NYGS

              What is the difference?

My DD likes Maths, Science & Music. Her Chinese is alright.

Which school will be better for her?

I think they are different in culture … So bring her to these 2 schools to have a feel and she might make her own decision. Afterall both are very good school.

The two schools are very different culturally. NYGH prides itself on its Chinese heritage and in imparting Chinese culture and traditions to its students. RGS is, as many put it, more ‘angmo’.

Academically, I don’t think there is a significant difference. Of course all students take HCL in NY whereas at RGS you are given an option of choosing HCL or CL.

Did your dd attend the Open Houses of the two schools in June? It would be quite clear where the differences lie and where your dd would feel more comfortable in. Unfortunately I don’t think either school is holding any Open House during this period.

My daughter scored 262 + 3 and I am wondering does she stand a good chance to enter RGS or NYGH? If she does, should her 1st choice be RGS or NYGH? Please advise. Tks:D

Yes she stands a good chance for NYGH, 265.

RGS only looks at 262(non-SAP school) and if the COP does not go up this year from last year’s 260, she will be able to make it as well.

Branding-wise RGS is better but I hear that teachers in NYGH more nurturing these days.

I can only say in RGS, the R-spirit is very strong and that makes people strive for excellence, hence can be competitive.

You need to know what kind of environment your child thrives in.
