Sun_2010:

And i have one with MSAkids for each too, but that they are not aware of.

Didn't you need to bring them along to open the account?

I have one for DD too, and I brought her along to open the joint account with me.

      nope birth certs were enough!

I take then to OCBC though.
The Sunday banking is a big draw for me, they love to deposit their money and take charge of their pass books

Then again, if I smile enough, they are quite kind to waive it.
Some smile that must be ๐Ÿ˜‰

ya the card and gifts do get a bit stale after a while...

I just looked at OCBCโ€™s might saver program. The sticker and gifts program does look like something that will interest DDโ€ฆ

            BigDevil:

How old were your kids when they lose interest? Maybe I should start my kids before they reach that age....
My kids are only P2 and P3. They are not very keen on the rewards. In fact my P2 think Ben 10/ cartoon stuff are lame when we wanted to get him a watch. He is wearing a ellesse now and he is crazy enough to want a gold watch. I am not sure if it's him. :? They are at the tweens stage now.
*There's actually a limit? Hmmm...didn't notice that in their website. Must be those tiny prints at the bottom of the page...
Observed this when it comes to CNY whereby the savings is lot more. If you want the gift, you probably got to phase out the deposit over a couple of months. So I was like \"brainwashing\" them forget about the rewards, see your bank grow is more important. i also agree with hquek... managing the card is a headache and I tend to misplace it. I give up now.
Guess that will work better with older kids who understand numbers...
Also, not all accounts listed come with a passbook.
Yah the kids were so excited when their bank balance hits 1k. So it's like a target.

              Thank you BigD

When DD was discharged on the third from the hospital after her birth + 2 extra days (for jaundice treatment aka time at the sunny spa); DH, DD and I went for a celebratory brunch (DD had BM on demand), after which we went to Q for DD's kindy registration PLUS open her bank account.

DD has a POSB Kids account, co-joint with moi. The only thing I don't like about it is that she gets to \"control\" when she reaches 15 years of age. So I decided that I will put in monthly savings but not let her know about it ๐Ÿ˜‰

              Story to share:
My aunt has a joint account with my (boy) cousin. When he turned 18, he withdrew $7,500 for a sporty motorbike. A week after, he was found out and my uncle (his Dad) sold the bike for $5,000. When the same cousin turned 25, he withdrew $30,000 for a sporty car. A month later when the car arrived, my aunt promptly closed the bank account and did not speak to him for a month :x

Agree - DS used to go & 'top up' his bank account to get the card and stickers...now he couldn't be bothered. He still goes into the bank every Sunday (bank located in shopping mall where we do our groceries every Sunday), but not to deposit $$, just to get the free chocolate cookies
