7 New IP schools

The http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/general-information/programmes/integrated-programmes/ under MOE are:existing 11 IP schools, each has about 450 sec 1 intakes = 4950, against a cohort size of say 40,000, it is already 12.4%.......(ok, given NJC,NUSH may not be up to 450 yet)
this additional 7 IP schools could be the result of the outcry to have more people wanting to get into IP but did not get reduced weightage in MT hence lower t-score .............

4. Nanyang Girls’ High School
5. National Junior College
6. Raffles Girls’ School (Sec)
7. Raffles Institution

Will the additional of 7 IP schools under MOE reduce the cut-off points for admission into these existing 11 IP schools under MOE in time to come?
Other potential schools not mentioned so far in this thread:

2. http://www.nanchiauhigh.moe.edu.sg/
http://www.sota.edu.sg/ and http://www.sportsschool.edu.sg/ are also IP schools with 'O' level tracks but not under MOE. Correct me if I am wrong.

If I am not wrong, this is one of the criteria for a school to be selected for IP. I remembered this mentioned in one of the talks I attended.
These are the O level Band 1 schools with only express stream with proven good results. -
There should not even be new IP schools. IP is for students who are predicted to pass "O" levels with flying colours. This lets them use the time for studying to do more meaningful stuff. Schools like neighbourhood schools etc etc should not even have IP, if you have an average of B4 for the majority of th students in the school, they should not deserve the IP status. Having IP status for too many schools will result in a mass drop in the standard of education in singapore.
If the students are admitted into JC and they fail "A" levels, their highest education standard would be at PSLE level, causing them to lose out. "O" levels are there to help students who cannot or may not pass the "A" levels, not to burden them. -

From the newspaper report, these new IP schools will offer both IP and O level curriculums. In fact, in schools like ACSI, students' progressed are monitored. Those found to not doing well in IB will be asked to do the O levels route in year 3 and vice versa (those doing well will be promoted to IB route). So I think it will be the same for these new IP schools. Frankly I am not worried about the students not doing well as a result. -

I don't think the addition of the new IP schools will reduce the COP for admission to the existing 11 IP schools, at least not for the top few schools like RI, RGS, HCI, NYGH... These have proven track records especially with overseas Universities. I see the new 7 IPs as more like 2nd tier IP schools. So if there's any dilution in COP for IP schools, they're more likely for the less popular existing IP schools.

Straits Times says likely schools include Cedar Girls and Victoria School. SJI also likely.

It's already mentioned it's for weaker students. Most likely it's to help students from normal technical streams from schools such as SUTD or even ITE get into polytechnic. And specialised NOrmal Tech schools, and also through-train for normal(acad) students to poly.
Why have to be with JC in place, har? Can just extend another 2 years, wat. I know some of the schools had already planned it that way when they proposed their own IP programme to MOE years before.phankao:

The new 7 IP schools would probably we similar to the model that is already carried out by ACS(I), which is the only IP school that has both 4 & 6 year IP & non-IP track options, as mentioned in the announcement.
You don't see students in ACS(I) going on the ACJC, right?
As for the schools that apply for IP status years ago, eg. SJI, well, MOE couldn't approve until now bc MOE has \"closed\" the applications for IP already earlier. Even CHS & SNGS applied for IP in 2005/2006 were rejected bc right at the moment they applied, MOE closed the applications for new IP schools. Even back then, these schools had not said they will extend IP to go on to CJC, for instance. Let's see what develops. -
PM mentioned, they want students to be able to experience certain program but don't restrict to those schools. They want to widen these programs to make them available in other schools as well, so students have more opportunities to experience them. I guess IP is one of the programs. So these schools would have both O level and IP programs.
I am thinking, is this one of the reasons why RV is doing away O lvl class completely starting this year? :? -

Me too. My nephew is this year and dd next year. Hopefully MOE already done the ground work and will announce soon. :celebrate:
