7 New IP schools
-
I notice that among the new IP schools, SJI will be joining ACS (indep) and MGS to offer IB, instead of A level. I have been told that IB is "broad" while A level is "deep". Is this true? Where can I find info on IB?

I read in the Straits Times today about how a group of 8 old boys and teachers of VS has courted Cedar. I am really impressed with the Victorian brand of education, and won’t have any hesitation sending my children to VS and CGS.
I think a VS-VJC merger will be in the pipeline in the future, as mentioned in the same newspapers report. -
Just curious... y CHS never partner with CJC? Cos' CJC CMI ah? :?
Then should change the name... very misleading

In the same report, its mentioned that the Cedar Girls on IP will remain in Cedar for 4 years. Does that mean the VS boys on IP will also remain in the VS for 4 yrs. So what's happening with the current VJC VIP model where the students start their IP in VJC in Sec 3,4 and then carry thru to the JC1/2 years. Is that going to be discontinued in the future? It will be such a waste as that pgm has been around since 2005.I read in the Straits Times today about how a group of 8 old boys and teachers of VS has courted Cedar. Yesterday's news mentioned that 50 VS boys and 50 Cedar girls entering sec 1 in 2011 will be selected to do the IP in Sec 3 in 2013 as interim measure (since the vs/cedar/Vjc IP will only start in 2012). I presume this batch will be doing the current VIP for the time being. Does this mean that the VIP will not accept students other than VS/Cedar for this cohort? VIP is currently open to all other schools to apply for entering at Sec3. This is a pertinent issue for the P6's this year. -
btw, it was mentioned in this thread that 250 is the COP for IP, can someone help me to confirm this? thanks in advance!

Yes. Now Cedar has become one of our choices and hopefully dd is able to work hard so as to join there in Yr 2012 -
next time only left with CMI JCs for O’ level students… tough for late bloomers…

Wat's CMI? :scratchhead:

All the Catholic mission schools were 'affiliated' with CJC.
In its infancy, everyone of the students were from mission schools.
SJI, St Pats, CHIJ, KC form the bulk of these students.
CHS students, though a Catholic brethen, were quite misfits there then.
A more pertinent question is why SJI didn't partner with CJC?
Though CHS has now surpass it in academic results,
SJI has a proud history n its intention to go IP alone in its quest
to reclaim its past glory is understandable.
During Bras Basah days, SJI boys wer more kawan with town convent girls,
n Pensisular Plaza was a fav hangout.
That link could still be strong.
Why worry no gf now in this IP exercise?
When SJI rises again, all d birds will fly back to d coop for JC. -

the COP is not something set in stone. it'll eventually depend on the PSLE scores of students who chose these schools each year.btw, it was mentioned in this thread that 250 is the COP for IP, can someone help me to confirm this? thanks in advance!
works pretty much like the fish market. The wholesaler starts by selling his fish to the highest bidder, until the last fish. the selling price of the last fish becomes the COP for his stall.
