My 3-yr-old DD is also scared of mascots - Merly & Lyo, the Madagascar mascots at Universal Studio Singapore, any big walking mascots, she is scared. I also hope she will grow out of it so we can bring her to Disneyland.

I went to a circus when I was very young - less than 6yo. The clowns came out and I shrieked and fell through the seats! Fortunately I suffered nothing worse than scraped knees but that was the last of the clowns for me! -
Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns. The term is common, but is not commonly used in psychology. The prefix \"coulro-\" comes from the Ancient Greek κωλοβαθριστής (kōlobathristēs), “one who goes on stilts”.
Coulrophobia can also be said to extend to a fear of covering up one's face with paint—the idea of hiding recognisable features under a layer of face paint can also unsettle coulrophobia sufferers.
That's us.
