Give your child a round of sex education so that he has more understanding. If you portray sex as dirty or with disgust, it will lead the child to wanting to find out more. It might be difficult to go through it especially when we are Asians. Being open to your kids on the topic will give clarity on what he should be expecting.

with regards to parent control which is the best window to use? Pls advise what is the appropriate setting for children above 11 but below 16. Do you have to block the website one by one, else it may block website link to their research work, causing a lot of unhappiness.

I think there are many parental controls discussed in KSP forums. But sometimes I do agreed with one of the forummer said that using Parental Control is quite useless, if you didn't check on them.
Like you said, you might over-block the websites.
Indirectly you are asking your kids to find out the answer from outside.

I think it will be more useful if you track and monitor what websites they are visiting. My friend is doing such software. If you are interested, you can pm me.

I would think that it will be good to know the rationale why ur child visits the site. Most likely is curiousity.

Most importantly now is to talk to ur child, avoiding the topic is not a solution. He will only go else where to find answers, worst case is to try it out. I understand that its difficult to talk abt sexuality ed at home but it would be good for the child to get answers from us.
I have 2 gals, 7 and 3. We talk freely abt the topic to my elder. Self love and must cherish herself, not others to cherish her.

So snowman.697 , what else do you think a parents need to do?

If a 12 year old feels this then it is time we as parents looked into it the rational / thought process behind it.

The point i think snowman.697 is making is just bcos the child knows what happens, why (s)he should /should not do things is not enough to stop him from reaching out to porn. The point is he wants to know more , see more , atleast more than we as parents would tell. He is likely to think - ok thats what u say, now let me see what the rest of the world says...

in essense, Sex-ed helps in clearing some ground rules and being a bit more sensible but not in preventing a child from exploring
So how to handle that?

I dread the day that my kids reach the stage when they become curious about sex/sexuality and we as parents will then have to educate them… not sure how to brood the topic or explain it.
