      Hi Duriz,

I just love the smell from the kitchen too (where I hang my clothes).
Kodomo has too much lather, or else I would use it too. Comfort 5 litre only avail for white and pink...or I would get it.
When I used to have maid, they can finish a bottle of softener in a very SHORT period...do they drink the softener ?
      :rotflmao:

Maybe they don't understand the concept of modern electrical appliances and anything fancier than washing soap (for bathing or laundry) :?
When they use our schtuff, whether it's for themselves or when doing work for us, they are very wasteful and don't use their brains to think before their actions. One of our maids used to leave the tap running (when doing dishes) to go answer her hp :x
      Our money all washed/poured away

To me, maids are 一个人,两条心. As long as they don’t pay, they don’t know the ache. I provide soap, shampoo and toothpaste when they first arrive…tell you they finish in 1 month :x So, I make them buy their own toiletries. I of my maids tell me she uses Pear soap. I told her to buy her own if she has a preference.

We decided to get a maid when we had #2...no choice bcos PT maids go home after few hours but still have lots of follow up. I simply hated the idea of having a stranger in the house during those early years.

Hubby got a roomba 3 days ago...so far so good lah, but can't vacuum corners as it's round.

So you still have a maid now or only during the early years? I'm a bit reluctant to have 2nd one as hubby says we'll need to get a maid otherwise too tiring. And I really don't like having maid living with us! 😞

So the roomba really works well? does it cover every part of the floors? I don't mind vacuuming or dry mop the house, but it's time consuming.

Hubby and I have a part time maid who comes in once in 2 wks now to do the more major cleaning. she is really gd and reliable, v initiative. but is going back to her family next month! we are worried if we can find another good one!

Anyone has a good part timer to recommend?

I'm facing the same issues. It seems that most people say it's inevitable to get a maid when #2 comes, but I'm resisting. Gonna try out first and if really really really cannot cope then consider. Even then a part of me maintains that the chances of getting a not-gd maid is so high that most likely getting one will be more of a hindrance than a help.

Think there are some mums (ftwm or sahm) that cope with 2 kids or more without a maid. Share your experiences pls! If ftwm, of course must have good grandparent support of good childcare...

I do not have any maid now…sent off the Filipino maid 2 years ago.

When #2 arrives, it’s hard not to get another maid…the washing and other workload is heavier. After 4th maid and daughter turned 4, I had enough of them.

:rotflmao: Maybe they use it as hair/skin conditioner since it smell so nice :politebleah:

I thik i have repeated this many times.

I am a FTWM with 3 kids 6, 4 and 2 and i do not have maid or PT help. Everyone chip in and daddy is the driver who goes around Singapor to pick the kids up from classes and childcare centres. No doubt it is tiring but we are very much happier without a maid. I have maids for close to 3 years and has done without one for same time. Even during the confinement period for youngest, i did not engage anyone except catering for confinement food. The biggest hurdle for us till now is the logistic issue on picking up and caring for children. How to pick up the kids if hubby is overseas or need to work on weekends when the kids go for their enrichment classes. Otherwise, everyone plays their part including the 2 yr old. She knows she need to put her milk bottle on the table after she finishes her milk. All these are taught when they attend childcare centres. The older 2 kids pack their bag every morning. If they forget anything, they just have to face the consequences on their own.

                  Mrs Ang,

If the maids had used the softener for their hair and skin, then perhaps they will smell nicer.

:rotflmao: I can totally understand that!!!!!
My previous maid like to use my kitchen fruit knife as a screwdriver, can opener, dirt digger (whatever that for) and everything else EXCEPT to cut a fruit.
