Another question :

Ahmad and Bata had a total of 7 cards at first. After Bata bought more cards and Ahmad lost cards, Bata now has 3 cards more than Ahmad. Find the number of cards Bata had at first?

I think there is information lost here.
I'm in p6, and I don't think its solvable.

Sorry sorry, some typo error , the question should read :

Ahmad and Bata had a total of 76 cards at first. After Bata bought 15 more cards and Ahmad lost 8 cards, Bata now has 3 cards more than Ahmad. Find the number of cards Bata had at first?

Hmm... okay...

So the total in all for A+B is 76.

After Bata bought 15 cards, the total is 91.
After Ahmad lost 8 cards, the total is 83.

We know that Bata has 3 more cards than Ahmad.
The total now is 83.

83-3=80
80/2=40(Ahmad in the end)
40+3=43(Bala in the end)

Since Bala bought 15 cards,

43-15=28

Bala has <u>28 cards</u> at first.

question 2)mrs ida baked 125 tarts and placed them in a jar. Aliff ate 4 tarts everyday.Fatimah ate 1 tart on the first day,2 tarts on the 2nd day,3 tarts on the 3rd day and so on.
a)on which day would both children have eaten the same total number of tarts?
b)how many tarts are left in the jar on day 10?

hope u can answer the questions.
thanks šŸ˜„ šŸ˜Ž    :? šŸ˜ž šŸ˜‰ šŸ™ 😐 :?: :!: :stupid: :celebrate:

Hi

For Q1, first, we solve part of the problem to find out the total number of cards in the beginning.

For Q2, I assume that the question asks for the remaining number of tarts after consumption by Aliff and Fatimah on day 10.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

If I understood the question correctly, this should be a straight forward sum:

step 1:convert the denominator to 12...
2/3m = 8/12m

step 2: add length used to length remaining...
8/12m + 7/12m = 15/12m = 1 3/12m

Therefore original length = 1 3/12m

SPI:
Need help for this question. Thanks.

Linda used 2/3m of string to tie a pile of books and had 7/12m of string left. What was the original lenght of string she had at first?

Sorry post wrong place. Should be at P3/P4 Maths section.

Hi tianzhu, thank you for the clear explanation. Some of the questions I could work out but just do not know how to draw the models and explain to my son.

Hi 2DMommy

You are welcome.

The good news is your son is in P3 /P4, there is still plenty of time as PSLE is two to three years away.

With more practices, you can only get better.

MD is one of many heuristics taught in primary Maths. Expose the kid to various strategies and let him/her decides the method he/she is most comfortable with.

Best wishes
