Hi tianzhu, thank you for the clear explanation. Some of the questions I could work out but just do not know how to draw the models and explain to my son.

            Hi 2DMommy

            You are welcome.

The good news is your son is in P3 /P4, there is still plenty of time as PSLE is two to three years away.

With more practices, you can only get better.

MD is one of many heuristics taught in primary Maths. Expose the kid to various strategies and let him/her decides the method he/she is most comfortable with.

            Best wishes

Can someone help me with this question?

45 blue balls and 12 green balls were put into a basket containing some blue and green balls. There were 23 more blue balls than green balls in the end. How many fewer blue balls than green balls were there in the basket at first?

                Hi, another question:-

A packet of cookies was shared equally among 9 children. If 4 more children joined in, each child would get 8 fewer cookies. How many cookies were there in the packet?

                  Hi TianZhu,

You’re really very helpful ! I appreciated very much. Though I may not be the one posting questions but had benefited by reading your reply. At least I can apply them for my son when we come across similar questions.

                  Thanks !!

                    Hi

                    45 – (23 +12) = 10

There are 10 fewer blue balls than green balls in the basket at first.

                      Hi

                      9*8 = 72
                      72/4 = 18

                      18 + 9 = 26

                      26*9 = 234

There were 234 cookies in the packet.
