i banned the word 'stupid' when dd was 3 yrs old. she saw and heard someone using this word and she descibed it to me. she never used that..i explained to her that it was morally incorrect to use this word on a person....fortunately, till to date, she still can remember what i told her back then.[/quote]Lol yeah same here. My dd remembered & used it back on me ... u know, sometimes when you watch TV & comment jokingly to husband e.g. why that xxx so stupid go & ... my kid will say \"HEY! cannot say stupid!\" :slapshead:
Don't be surprise, even kids in top class also learned how to scold using the \"F@\" word. Just tell my DD to ignore it.comfy:

I thought 'CRAZY' was ok too but then I am not a very strict teacher, firm but not excessively particular. Our kids are already quite repressed in many ways. I cannot condone rudeness though.
Words like Stupid, scolding words in chinese poem (how creative) are commonly used too. -

Nope. Not jumping the gun. Her FT had already had this GEP discussion with the class some months back. I had already given my stand on school transfer with regards to GEP some time back in this forum. I will pm you, don't want to rehash the same story (炒冷饭).Hi E3,
This seem to be jumping the gun, would you consider sending your DD to a GEP school if she is selected (next yr) ? If yes, which school ? Thks. -

I am a hoarder...hehe...maybe cos I still have two younger ones not in Pri school...
I stay along Hume Avenue. Any info would be much appreciated.
If there is a choice, we would prefer to have a small bus instead (as the big ones probably not allowed to drive into the lobby due to its size)
So far I often see a big & old school bus pass by our place. So will get slight inconveniences during rainy days, plus I have to be on standby at waiting point (looking like a goondu :P)
I still have the list of School Bus Drivers and Routes given last year. My dd takes the school bus since P1. It is a small bus (only about 12 students) with seat belts. Takes a little getting used to initially cos my dh used to send her to kindy by car. The not-so-long bus journey might seem like ages and gave her butterflies in her tummy.
I will pm the bus info for your area to you. Hopefully it is still the same \"uncle\". -

Just curious. Anyone knows how many top students PH loses each yr due to the GEP brain drain?
Since CH3 has 3/4 and FA3 has 1/4 through, that makes about 45 pupils from top 2 classes. That's not far off from Nan Hua (50) which I am sure has provided special training for their pupils...
:offtopic:
Do you parents know that we are by far the most active thread and we have more than twice the number of posts compared to the 2nd most active pri sch thread? Amazing that we are so 'loud'. Some of the other threads are so totally quiet.

Hi All
Mostly of them wants our kids to be in the top 3 classes stating academic and character values as the reason. MOE is piloting a project called ‘cottage’ class - mixing the brightest with the weakest in the same class. It is already happening in NYPS. If this comes to PH, how will you parents react? -

Well, for me, I don't think it is a bad idea if the FT or teachers teaching in this class can take charge or manage the class. It will like primary 1 all over again. The strong one can help the weak one.Hi All

Then perhaps the class will not be so competitive. But on the other hand, the weak one might find it harder to get top 3 position in class. I don't think it can be implemented in PHPPS.

The former principal has lamented several times that PH loses their best brains to other schools yearly…after the GEP test. It’s such a pity.
E3,
I would need to learn from you how to coach my daughter in EL compo. Although I’ve been through this with my son, I’ve not been successful in their EL. -

Janet, we learn from one another. Jennifer's son, IJJ's daughter can write very well. You can check out those guidebooks I had pmed you before. Most importantly, she must enjoy writing stories.E3,
