Name in IC
-
My boy’s one is Banana Wong Xiang Jiao.
Hubs had totally no objections to the name and just followed with whatever I wanted. He did not ask for surname to come first.
We printed out his Chinese name in a few different sizes and cut out when doing the BC at the hospital. -
my DD's name is Pineapple Wong, 黄丽, if you get it as 黄梨, then you got the Pineapple Wrong

Exactly the same except the title is BIRTH EXTRACT.Jennifer:
We recently changed a Chinese character in our 9 y.o boy's birth cert, just go to ICA, a level above the passport collection, to process the change. Paid $x for 1 character change, get an extract an hour later. Very simple process.
Hi Jennifer
According to the officer, the original BC will have to be returned to them and from then on, you will only hold a Birth extract.
Does the Birth Extract look the same like the original?
Thanks.
I made a photcopy of the birth cert before surrendering it
Just a keepsake for memory.

Hi Jennifer
Thanks for your reply. My friend was concerned that it looked totally different. Actually the officer told her that she can go and take a look at a sample copy before she decides.

I notice many will not use the surname in dialect form. Like Lee, they use Li and become diff from the family. Actually i don't quite like some people like to translate from eng name, that night the star search this guy Romeo Tan then chin name is chen luo mi oh.
i have a friend, his surname is Tay and his brother's surname is Tey.. -_-||| missy (nurse) write sala case?? -

Same thing happened to me too!
I did my 3 yo son's birth-cert within a month of his birth. But at that time I could not think of his Chinese name for him. They told me birthcert name can be changed within 1 year so I thought still got time. About 9 months later, I finally decided on his Chinese character name and went back to do the birthcert. Who knows the officer gave me an \"Extract of Birth Cert.\" and do away with the original! I was so sad and pissed, they told me if I were to change the English name, it is allowable but to ADD IN a Chinese character name is equivalent to I dunno what hence kerna got to return old one and get an \"Extract\"!
:x
I just feel so sad just because of this my son now got an \"Extract\" Birth Certificate instead of the original. But we Chinese must put in the Chinese character no matter what, right? Also they said within 1 year it is OK to change! Really don't understand.

By the way, also dunno whether you encounter this but when I went to add in the Chinese character name, the officer asked me to explain why didn't I add in at the beginning when I did the birth cert? I said I could not decide on it yet. Then she further insisted that my husband came with me and sign something or to do collection or whatever. The whole time I felt that they were very suspicious of something (and suspicious of my request) but I dunno what they were thinking about.
