Curious. All those maids who complain of being illtreated and later found to have lied, will MOM blacklist them from entering again?

It's a bloody waste of govt resources. I thought if we waste police time, we will kena court time? You mean our tax payer money all go towards funding this merry go round?

Sorry to inform you this. If the maids do not commit crimes under our penal code, they are not blacklisted. :x It's DAMN unfair to us employers.

Actually, can write to MOM to inform of details. If MOM agrees, MOM will blacklist the maid. Had an Indon maid who stole from us, was unrepentent when caught and questioned, wrote to MOM with details to bar her from coming back to Singapore (did not want another Singaporean employer from employing her). MOM obliged in writing.

BTW, did you know that Filipinas who work overseas have to pay very hefty taxed when they return? That's why alot of them rather forego the homeleave!

Thanks for the information. Now I know the TRUE reason why my maid didn't want to have her homeleave about 1+ year ago and why she is now asking for a transfer. She knew that I will not renew her contract becos I have had enough of her attitude, and was just waiting for her contract to expire and send her home. She must have used this same tactic on her previous Singapore employer. When I employed her, she was a transfer maid and worked in Spore for 17 months - actually thought that her ex-employer was stingy and didn't want to pay for her airfare home. Now I know better....

Sad to say, I was taken in by her acting and actually agreed to a transfer on condition that she works properly and don't give me any attitude and rudeness until my new maid comes. Agreed cos she is actually a good worker and thought that maybe we just don't get along. My hubby and mother both like her cos she is fast, but they don't see the (sometimes) sloppy work and don't have to ask her to clean again.

Now, I realise that she is just soooo good at acting. She is now behaving so well and doing her chores well... cos she knows that I won't hesitate to send her home... so I guess she is not going to give me any reason for breaking my word and sending her home instead. Especially since I highlighted to her that it is actually very cheap to buy her an airticket home!

This is the first time that I am allowing a transfer for my maid. Previously, I sent all my maids home regardless of whether the contract was completed. How I regret agreeing to a transfer....

          Hi KSmom8,

On top of being fantastic dreamers, these Filipino maids are also fantastic actresses. Maybe these run in their genes :x . My prev maid is one fantastic dreamer and she can act very well too…in front of me and the agency.
Personally, I would send my maids HOME if they have an attitude. It definitely beats the idea of them sitting in the agency and paying the agency $12 a day for them doing NOTHING.

Wow, I’ve been browsing through this forum.

Quite shocked to see accounts of the maids.

My maid at home treated like some princess.
Can use my laptop, take naps, watch tv, have like 2 or 3 handphones, yak all day long, bring my sis go anywhere she likes as long as its within the neighbourhood etc.

The problem is, my parents allow her to do all that!
I find it a little ridiculous. She actually refuses to give me my laptop when I said I needed it for a project etc.
            :x :x

She very pro de. Can talk non-stop one. At home wake up,yakyakyak, afternoon i come home, yakyakyak then sleep. At night yak again all the way to past midnight.

Once I woke up at around two, and guess what, she was still talking on the phone! I was so amazed. I mean, don’t they need to sleep?!

have been facing problem with maids that don’t listen and follow my instructions and refuse to change. even purposely go against me by taking hours to sweep the floor. and yet the floor is still very dirty. requested me to leave her alone to do household chores. to my surprise, she didn’t do houseworks while we leave her alone. she open my wardrobe to search my drawer. all being recorded in video. she didn’t admit until we shown her the video clip of what she did. please give me some advice on how to change the attitude of this maid. thank you and have a nice wkend

send her back to the agency for counselling since she wont listen to you and if she doesnt improve, change maid.

It’s amazing how these maids can actually put on a show just for one reason - change of employer. I wouldn’t allow her to do that…in fact, I will get a ticket and sent her HOME. :x

I’ve heard of some employers who buy ferry tickets to sent their maids to Batam…how to get home is the maids’ problem. It’s very harsh but sometimes these people don’t deserve to be pitied.

                    Agree with sullyM.

The maid's attitude is very important.
If maid no good initially, but willing to learn, then can keep maid.
If maid has a bad attitude from the start and refuses to change, then can forget about employing her.
My maid was not so good initially, I had a talk with her and she said she needed this job. After many months, she is improving and I can sense that she is willing to improve and is not lazy.
Recently I found out that she shares my love for animals, in fact can handle small animals very well. 😄

You are very lucky indeed...I don't have such luck:(. Transfer maids cannot be hired bcos most of them are actually trying their luck to find easy jobs. My 3 transfer maids are proven cases...Filipino being the worse, don't like to cook and want to find angmoh employer.

Her attitude showed about 1 month after I employed her. She told me \"if you don't like my work then send me back to agency\" and this was for not cleaning the floor properly. I was pregnant then and thought I was too harsh ... pregnant hormones,etc... anyway, so tiring and sian to change maid. So instead counselled her. But every few months, she will be back to her rude ways. On hindsight, should have just sent her home then... it would have saved me lots of stress and headaches and sleepless nights. Looking back I think it is a miracle that I tolerated her for almost 4 years. Yeah, great actress... she is the model maid in front of my mum and hubby... until recently when they saw how she talked back to me.

I am using another agency for my new maid. My current Filipina maid wants to use my previous agency cos they will charge her lesser fee. I have no intention of paying this agency anything... if they insist, I will buy a airticket home for her! I also intend to give them only 2 weeks to get her a new employer, don't want her to sit and choose an employer whilst I continue to pay her levy!

Actually, I really want to send her home especially since I have now been enlightened to their ways (thanks to this forum I have learnt quite a lot) but I've already agreed to the arrangement that if she does her work well and does not show me attitude until my new maid arrives, I will allow a transfer. How to back out now when she is back to being a model maid... :stupid:
