Thanks for sharing, comfy. So P3 will have more of such CL activities? I believe in a SAP Pri with HCL, their exposure in CL should be wide. My dd did a bookmark too to represent a storybook that they had read.
Yes, I agree with E3 that PHPPS does impart CL thru their homework. My DD has to complete around 6 to 7 small little books summarizing the story that their CL teacher has read/shown to them. Occasionally, they can make a bookmark out of the story. Sometimes the CL teacher will show them other resource like art and craft in CL and encourage them to be creative in doing their artpiece.E3:
I am just wondering whether is it the same across all levels. My dd has a light-blue PHPPS Chinese Folder in which they have to fill up the contents with the dates on which they had read CL storybooks. According to my dd, the first 10 dates will be filled in by her CL teacher. So, they do read chinese books in school. We just have to complete the remaining (can't remember how many...at least 10) at home. CL teacher collected the folder at fourth term. On top of reading these CL books, they have to work on four ε°δΉ¦ whereby the kids will create their own little booklets, providing pictures based on titles and some given pictures to form stories. -
Just asked my elder boy how was his life in CH for the past two years. He said it was fun, felt stress due to the load of sch work, not difficulty level. Also not aware of unhealthy competition among the top few pupils in the class. I think he is very fortunate to be in such class in which the children get along well with each other.

Right. No wonder Tam was saying that it tooks months for her ds to complete the series. And I was wondering how come ds was doing it so fast? Now I know. I took the short cut & made ds read it like a story book. Come to think of it, no wonder ds also likes to take short cuts when answering qns. Chip off the old block I guess :lol:
Markfch, cannot read it like a storybook.
This series need extensive parents involvement. Kids will definitely be bored. You need to teach through activities not just plain reading.
The book also mentioned some suggestion on how to use the material. -

Yes, in my DD class, it seem so but I can't say for sure for other class. The other thing is that although there is much exposure to CL activities, the teaching method can be pretty boring. My DD shares that sometimes she can yawn many times during the CL lesson Sometimes I wonder why can't the teacher teaches the way the teacher from CL enrichment cerntre is teaching. It will be so much fun and interesting.
