      hi Markfch,

My son is >1yr old. I want to be kiasu but also paiseh to be kiasu..hahaha!!!

Ok, then I not so kiasu afterall. 🙂

BTW, I need to find out more abt gaining entry to PHPPS. Who can I check with? Should I call the school directly whether church affiliation helps?
There is a thread which contains most of the info that you require here ==> http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=243

The only thing I'm not sure is whether one or both parents and/or child needs to be baptised as church member before p1 registration. Can check with sch. You may already know this but just in case, this yr there was balloting for PH for P2C under 1km (due partly to reduced intake). A few of my friends were unsuccessful even though they bought a place nearby. And there are lots of condos devt mushrooming in that area as well so you may wish to keep all options open at this early stage.

Was looking for more information about school for my very young son (Don't want to mention his age at the risk of sounding very kiasu, hahaha)

        :welcome:

Think you don't have to worry that revealing your ds's age will make you sound very kiasu. There is a mummy here who personally went to a popular kindy to register her baby on the 3rd day after delivery.

How do you beat that? So even if you say that your ds is less than one year old, you only average kiasu by our standard, keke.

That would be me, thanks for the intro markfch

hehe… thanks for making me feel welcome and relieving some of the pressure of feeling kiasu…

BTW, I just called PHPPS and the lady asked me where am I staying. So I told her within 1km (though we haven’t decide where to buy the house), she told me no problem to gaining entry. As for church affiliation, she couldn’t tell me more.

I am have to call the church to ask.

Dun rely too much on info given by office staff. Better do more checking with the church.

U aware PH might be included in MOE sch upgrading programme? We dun hv any details from the sch yet. The latest MOE statement on sch upgrading programme did not include PH.

                  Hi Jennifer,

Yes, i called the church office just now. The lady who picked up the call said parents must be member of the church be it baptised or transferred membership. I forgot to ask if its one or two parents. BUt then again, she mentioned that being church member gets you into Phase 2B, the rest depends on balloting…church cannot affect the school’s decision etc…

I read in the main PHPPS thread about all the talk of chinese language and chinese books to read - If you have friends/relatives going to China, do get them to buy the chinese books. Most of the books there will be labelled for which age group, so not that difficult to buy.Its really really cheap. Like one book I bought from Popular here cost S$3.10, its actually RMB 6.80. The last time I was there I bought quite a lot.

                      Thanks for the tip.

We usu. borrow from the library. The tuition centre my P3 boy goes to has a compulsory practice- must borrow a book once a week.
