I've a personal issue that needs to be resolve soon. I'm anglican & ds attends sunday sch in the afternoons at my church (btw, I only go church nowadays cos of sun sch but that's another story  ). Somehow he doesn't gel that well in the programme. Think he's only going there to stop my nagging.
I'm exploring other places that offers sun sch and one of them is Glory. I know that sun sch there starts at 9:30am. Can a kid whose not in Glory kindy attend sun sch there? Can someone share more info with me on this?
Pls pm me if it's more convenient to do so. Impt to me that I encourage ds to attend sun sch when young. Thanks. -

Hehe, guess I'm also one of those parents against comics, plus ds never reads the same story twice. It must be a totally new story to incentivise him to read.E3:
I actually bought the simplied version of 水滸傳 & 三國演義. They are sitting pretty at ds's bookshelf. Simplied but still too challenging for me to read  . A few hundred pages of small characters with no pictures.
Hi markfch, what's your take with reading Chinese comics? I know some parents are strongly against it. You can try reading the 四大名著 comics. It might be easier to swallow. After that, move on to other versions.
I'm trying to quickly move him away from picture to non-picture books (so comics is a no-no for me). I think non-picture books tend to deal with more mature concepts which requires deeper thoughts & analysis.
Hi Markfch,
Just to share with you this incident. When her CL teacher noticed her reading this comic 歇后语我OK (little dragon), she recommended this book to the whole class. My DD and her friend even thought out of the idea of acting out the characters among themselves. It is very funny as it is a comedy comic. -

Just a note .. the school do not allow non-academic comics (if there is such a term
) So comics like batman, superman, pokemon or dragonball are still not allowed.

IIRC, Tin Tin was written at the time whereby what was deemed as politically correct was very different from what is it today. At least this is what I remembered. Hence it is one of the books I'll discourage ds from reading.

Oh now I got it, edn stands for edition. I actually bought the simplified version of 水滸傳 & 三國演義. They are sitting pretty at ds's bookshelf. Simplified but still too challenging for me to read  . A few hundred pages of small characters with no pictures.
Just took another look at those books on the shelf. I remembered wrongly. Mine actually have lots of colourful pictures & hanyu pinyin. Not too bad. So perhaps even I start reading them first

Good  . After that, you can try engaging your ds's interest. -
Hi parents,
I thought this is quite interesting. My dd brought home a colouring contest from school whereby she is supposed to colour the picture as well as give a feminine name to the Tunnel Boring Machine which will be involved in the construction of the MRT near PHPPS. The winner will have the suggested name printed onto the machine. -
returned by the teachers at school?
In the past, I only zero in those qns which my boy has given a wrong ans.
Ytd, my boy brou home a mock paper and some other practice papers for EL. To my horror, some "correct" ones were marked wrong and some "wrong" ones were marked correct.
