if i din remember wrongly, yr gal is studying in Crescent girls', right??
how is she doing there?? think shd be fine and happy ........
i took Add maths during my time there, but can't remember was it mandatory for all classes......
School is great.. Can't ask for more. She got to L1R5 of 10 for whole year... though SA1 was bit high.
I can see , she is growing into a confident person.. sometime challanges us too , but that is ok...as long as it is for reason...
You are ex-Crescentarian... so it must have been great feeling that school continues to churn responsible young ladies year after year! -
DadOfGirl, your ddβs L1R5 of 10pts - Crescent Girls is considered as very good! Her projected 0-level score should be around 6-7pts.
It seems that some are still unsure of A-Level/IB subject combination requirements. Many schs made it a requirement for all students to take A Maths at least till sec 3 due to the following reasons:
1. Contrasting subject requirement both A-level/IB.
2. A pass in A maths at O-level is a mandatory requirement for entry to all unisβ business schools, economics, architecture studies etc.
3. For top humanities students H2 Maths is compulsory.
4. Very Few JCs allow students without A-Maths to take H2 Maths. Exen if students are allowed to take at this level due to passing of an entrance exam, generally their results are very dissapointing.
5. At JC-1, an A-Maths student in the arts stream can offer to take maths at H1 level. Its like a revision for him. -

My son is in Yr 2 IP this year. He is a Maths & Science person but has decided, out of the blue to opt for literature in Yr3. May I know what triats must one poccess to do well in lit? Does one need to be expressive to excel in lit? I have not seen him reading any novel since his primary school days and hence, I can't detect any passion in him towards lit & languages. I am therefore concerned that he may struggle at higher-level lit. Is lit at Yr3 & 4 similar to Yr1 & 2? Is lit at higher level more creative or analytical/argumentative? Is the leap in standard from Yr 2 to 3 big? Can someone share with me their experience in taking literature beyond Sec2? Thanks. -
Fairy:
My Maths and Science son has also decided to take Humanities Programme (include Lit) in Year 3. Wonder what has IP programme done to them. Thanks for asking the question, I am interested to know too
