That's a rather major decision for the school. Do you mind sharing from which \"source\" did you hear it from? The \"cottage\" class was posted by php some time back on MOE piloting the project and NYPS taking it up. If PHP would be doing the same, I wonder what impact would it make to the school? Perhaps school is taking this early step towards phasing out exams for the P1s by 2013?
Jenneifer - I can understand....which is why I was thrilled when I hear there is a chance that P1 this year will move up together to P2. Waiting for anyone in this thread to advice if they had heard the same as there were some discussions on cottage style apprach sometime back. If this is true at least I know there are quite a number of good student in his class which can give him positive influence.
My boy SA2 has improved as compared to SA1 but EL not so good (altho still band 1 since most P1 will score 90+). Using some statistics shared by some of you earlier...my boy average score (estimated) is about 89...not 90 so prob no chance to Gr2. -
IJJ:
Both.
You mean the Father or the son? :lol:E3:
Congrats! So we will be losing one bright spark to GEP?
IJJ, don't get too discouraged with your dd's CL. Not sure whether this will work, during the hols, have a committed time to CL only, your elder dd can teach your younger one. Let her feel the \"exasperation\" in teaching CL, she might begin to understand how you feel too. However, if she could feel the achievement when she succeeded in teaching her younger sister to learn more CL, then she might feel good about the subject too. If you don't want to make it too \"obvious\" that you are putting more emphasis on CL, then you can also allocate other subjects for revision. My friend's experience with her girls was when she stressed too much on improving their chinese (her girls are also eat potatoes), they got put off even more. It backfired. Of course, pray that your dd will get a CL teacher who will be inspiring. Sometimes, it just needs that little nudge for her to start enjoying that subject.
CL is not exactly an enjoyable subject for my dd as well but I have to let her do consistently so that when she doesn't find it difficult, she will willingly do them and thus maintain her grade.
Overall, she had done better than SA1, no careless mistakes whatsoever. -
prisnkc:
Hi Prisnkc, its YuRen tuition centre. They used to be located at B1 but they have shifted to 4th level near the bridge. Which level is yr darling?periwinklejoy:
There is a tuition centre based in Beauty World but students hv to attend lessons twice a week and they are very strict with doing homework.
Can I know which centre?
FYi, they are closed from 5Nov to 13Nov and 23 to 31Dec. -

The killing shot was the O&E Comprehension. Many kids lost the most of the marks there. Your ds did well with band 1 in EL. dd told me that there was quite a number getting band 2 for EL in her class.

As for class, the top 4 classes are ok according to my dd's FT talk to them. i think likewise because the marks are too close. probably the first break will be in P3 as the kids are more settle down and also new subject in Science. -
verykiasu2010:
thanks verykiasu2010....your brief information reconfirmed that I was on the right track for my dd.....talking about Math Olympiad and DSA, I think Mathspark is the real expert in this forum
generally, if your DSA first choice is for NUSHS, preferably must have NMOS Gold (Pri 5) and SMOPS (Gold / Platinum - Pri 6) and be good in science
there are so many avenues to enter HCI via DSA - sports, math, bilingual, GEP, etc
for RI, if you are not GEP, be the top few in SG in your selected domain, be it arts, math, science, EL or CL
for HYGH: bilingual, GEP, calligraphy (national top 3 consistently), math
for DHS : any of the above (่ฎฒๅบ่ฏ)
in terms of academic competition, what else besides math olympiad (NMOS, SMOPS, RIPWMC, AMC, PLK, Gauss.... all these vlim is more expert)
my kaypoh info may not be accurate hor -
