Hi all
I have 2 nephews who attended their workshop about 3-4 years back. feedback from their mom is that, they appeared to be very motivated and excited about the camp. But after that, life’s back to normal.
I reckon its got to do with the level of maturity and readiness of each child. And I agree, what works for some may not work for others. -
have anyone send their kids for the maths mastery at adam khoo learning centre? would like to find out more abt your view?

From all the reviews which I’ve gathered from other forums and this, don’t think I will take the risk. A few thousand bucks is no joke. Don’t feel it’s worth to ‘try’. If it cost only a fraction of that, no harm trying. If at the end of the day it doesn’t work out for my children or even had adverse results, still not so bad but here, we are talking about an amount which not everyone of us here can even afford to ‘try out’. JMHO.

My P5 dd is gg on a refresher camp this Dec. Let me update you after tt.
Btw, if you tik my dd enjoyed the camp, you are wrong.
She hates the camp. I guess the reason is I let her joined the camp too young (P2). She got fighten by the methods - shouting loudly & stuff like dat.
Anyway, the refresher camp is only 10% of the camp fees, will give it a try again!

I too was interested in the Adam Khoo camp. However, after some analysis and watching videos on youtube, I conclude that this is a part motivational course, part study techniques course.
As for study techniques, enrichment centers does the same job and costs far less. You can’t really say Adam Khoo’s study techniques are head and shoulders over the other techniques. There is no emperical evidence to this.
What differentiates him from the enrichment centers are the motivational techniques he uses. These techniques he has learnt from other motivational speakers. However, these techniques were developed by adults for adults, especially career oriented adults. They’re not meant for children.
I guess next they will teach kids on how to invest in stocks and learn forex exchange. They might even have an MBA program for 7 year olds. Some things are best left to the adult stage. Despite this, I’m sure they will continue to have lots of parents signing up simply because people always associate cost with quality. The more expensive the cost, the better the quality. Well, I wish life is as simple as that. -
My ex-staff sent her two teenage boys some 2 years ago. She told me the same thing a forummer mentioned earlier. Initial hype was there that got her boys excited but after the course ended, it was life back to normal (and grades too)…plus a big hole in the pocket.

I believe true motivation comes from push, pull factors.
A push would be if you come from an impoverished family, and you want to get out of that environment as quickly as possible, because it is unbearable.
A pull factor would be all your friends have had phenominal successes, and you feel pressured to succeed as well, to prove to others that you can do it.
Either way, the factors are constantly there throughout your life, pushing you on.
Adam Khoo’s courses or for that matter, any other motivational courses , can only provide a simulated push/pull environment for a short period of time.
The success cases are those where the child is already on the brink of success and it was only a matter of time, before the child achieves it. in comes Adam Khoo and he gives the child a little nudge.
For children who are far from the motivation threshold, attending such courses would not help at all. In such cases, enrichment courses are best to at least generate an interest in the subject. -

Yup, I agree - attending such courses is a waste of money. Heard it is very expensive but I do not know exactly how much though. At the end of the day, ability to generate interest is important. A few motivation talks would just die after some time. Let your child have enjoy learning is more important. Not go for some motivational talks. They were at the Kidz Academy a couple of weeks ago. Wanted to find out how much it will cost but they are very secretive. I must sign up for the preview then they will tell me. Why cannot share the price? I told them no point going for review if I cannot afford it. Anyone knows how much?
