avoid too large a luggage if doing free&easy as it can be very cumbersome when getting on-off trains.

oh I had tried that when my brother family of 6 and my family of 4 went to Switzerland, Paris and London last yr. We had quite alot of luggages, big and small and we travelled by train! Good experience. When up and down the train, we were like going for war like that...with kids from 7 to 15 yrs old...fun
..and very nice snow mountain scenery... -
I only know I was very βchuangβ coz many JR stns are without escalator and then we have to catch connecting trains on diff platform. Quite an experience!!!

very true, free and easy, moving around can be quite an experience when with many luggages.
I find it very inconvenient. But, its sure an adventure.

Can you advise on how to get a vacuum for the bags while packing for the journey home? :? -

Just buy all the bags from Daiso in different sizes (small to large). All these don't need vaccum cleaner to do the job. Must more convenient.Nebbermind:

either u zip up leaving just a small opening for air to escape and then sit on the bag or press it with something to force air out. it will not be perfectly flattened but it'll help.

Oh, that's how it's done. Had vague idea of borrowing the vacuum from the Housekeeping department
