16 youths attacked by '369' gang members
Six students have been hospitalised after suffering injuries from yet another gang-related slashing incident.
Seven youths brandishing chopping knives went on a slashing rampage at Bukit Panjang, around 10pm on Monday night. -
:!: SINGAPORE - There are some 500,000 children between the ages of six and 16 here. And about one in 10 has a mild mental disorder, an expert from the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) has estimated based on a national survey in 2004.

While Parents involved in the rat race, being Kiasu over everything, getting stressed up over their children's education, compensating the neglect & their guilt with expensive toys, pocket money etc, neglecting what they should be giving priority to....ATTENTION, love & care to their children, see what these kids are upto??? What kind of generation are we \"cultivating\"? I pity the future generations! -

And I recalled you're currently staying around that area too rite? Shivers down my spine as I'm typing this. :scared:

I agree with you. I wonder is there anyone ministry looking into all these cases, what are their profiles, what are their families profile... So that it can serve as a warning to parents.:!: SINGAPORE - There are some 500,000 children between the ages of six and 16 here. if this kept going on unabated, sure will gov.sg needs more FT to support the ambitious GDP…
Do you recall once upon a time, SDU were formed for matching Graduates only?! Later did the success rates were less then ideal, that they widen the window? But it was still not working well.
The hole in our social fabric, once mended, is wearing off again…
Singapore society has unfortunately leaned to focus on $ and prestige, some have time to look after their kids, some did not… -

Gang armed with parangs go on slashing spree in Bukit Panjang!
Parents are busy focusing on their careers;
Teachers are busy concentrating on their school grades & reputation;
Govt. is busy building the nation
(but trying their best to inculcate discipline values, even lessons on \"falling in love\")
So who is there for the children?????

The 6 Bukit Panjang slashers kena arrested liao.. ..
Got a bad feeling things won't end yet.. ... -
Something must be very wrong when we are even afraid to take an evening stroll in our own country.
Doing what they did so soon after the Downtown East incident, these 6 thugs are basically throwing the gauntlet at the police.
Of course our policemen cannot rest until they napped every single one of them. But I wonder what’s with the remaining hoodlums still at large from the earlier incident? -

From what I understand, gangsters operate among themselves and do not 'disturb' ordinary people like us. It may be true as someone speculates in the papers that it may be revenge for the DE incident. It's shocking if they couldn't find their original targets and recklessly slash anybody who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, something that professional gangsters won't do. I was warned by a Japanese associate to be careful when going to Japan cos certain hotels are not meant for ordinary people. These gangsters have their territories and one has to avoid them so as not to be mistaken and get slashed or whatever. As long as a person is not loud and gung-ho in public it is generally safe. For the time being, keep our children home as much as possible and avoid loitering in the streets. Hopefully the law will come down hard on these hoodlums and pass heavy sentences on them to warn the rest.Something must be very wrong when we are even afraid to take an evening stroll in our own country.

Fifth Youth Charged
Nov 11, 2010
DOWNTOWN EAST MURDER
A FIFTH person was on Wednesday charged with causing the Oct 30 death of polytechnic student Darren Ng in Downtown East - but there was drama outside the courtroom too.
Nineteen youths who turned up to support Louis Tong Qing Yao when he appeared before a district court also ended up being arrested.
The 19 males aged between 17 and 22 are believed to be gang members.
For the first time on Wednesday, the police indicated that the dead youth might have been involved in gang activity himself.
He was chased by a group of youths with choppers and hacked to death in the main foyer of the Downtown East entertainment hub between 5.30pm and 5.37pm on Oct 30.
In a statement, the police said that investigations into the incident have shown that the murder was connected to 'gang-related disputes involving the deceased, victims and assailants'. -
6 Suspects Arrested
Nov 11, 2010
BUKIT PANJANG GANG ATTACK
SIX youths were arrested on Wednesday over two cases of armed rioting in Bukit Panjang on Monday.
Aged between 15 and 23, they were rounded up in a 24-hour swoop by officers from the Secret Societies Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Jurong Police Division.
The six are believed to be behind the attacks which left seven youths injured.
At about 10pm on Monday, a group armed with parangs and choppers first attacked a 20-year-old man at Block 418, Fajar Road.
The group is believed to have then attacked six teenage boys at Block 505, Jelapang Road.
The 20-year-old is in hospital with injuries to his legs and back, while the others needed treatment. -
It must be due to the Bukit Panjang attack by 369 that police decided to arrest the 19 youths who came to support the 5th youth in court. Earlier on when the 4 youths were charged in court, police didn’t arrest those who came to support them.
And this time, police shed little light that Darren was involved in gang activities himself. -

this is a good sign,... Nineteen youths who turned up to support Louis Tong Qing Yao when he appeared before a district court also ended up being arrested...
that sg kiddie triad members aren't quite there yet.
Hopefully, they have no chance to be like Mafia or Yakuza.
But even that is not good enough really,
I pray for a Singapore where everyone feel safe at any place, any time. -
Is there a law against being secret societies member? Or how is the police gonna proof it? Else I think only lim kopi with police and scot-free… till they get caught for another hacking incident.
Similarly, all those loanshark activities shld be related to these secret societies… and police also can’t do much with the paint splashing…
Wonder what entice the kids to join SS nowadays… given that some of these kids are from well-to-do families as well. -

IMHO, these kids are just being naive and easily drawn to gangs due to a hunger for recognition. Most of them I'm sure seek attention and even love. They feel cool to be part of a group, doing things that show that they are macho and brave. They are very impressionable and what they don't learn at home, they learn outside. Most parents don't have time or energy to monitor their kids while others just simply don't care. Some think that as long as their children are given what they want, they should be fine. Parents do play a very important role in nurturing their kids. As most parents are affluent and have the \"what I didn't have I make sure my kids have\" mentality, kids turned out pampered and spoilt. How a kid turns out, I would say, at least 90% of the responsibility lies on the parents. Seriously, how many parents can say what their children are up to anytime of the day? When something as serious as this happens especially if it happens to our own kids, then we start to question why, which is of course too late in the case of Darren Ng. For the innocent victims, they suffer due to the degradation of the society they live in. :torchme:Is there a law against being secret societies member? Or how is the police gonna proof it? \"Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.\" Proverbs 22:6
\"Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.\"
Psalm 127:3 - 5
Where an arrow lands, is where the parent 'shoots' it.
Sorry for preaching but very relevant Biblical truths. Anyway, the BIBLE stands for \"Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth\"
