Guess those students selected for special training are those identified as with potential. I took the test more than 2 decades ago, but never make it lah, hahaha.... Time flies

Seems like rosyth does not offer HCL as readily as other schools. Some non-sap schools offer HCL fm p1. Probably a blessing in disguise to dd coz she is already struggling with normal chinese..

Thanks everyone for sharing and let me have a better understanding of rosyth. Being a ftwm, the closest i go near the school is when i fetch dd in the evening.

Btw dun think there's random allocation this yr. The top students fm dd's class go to adventurous.
From P3 onwards, they rank the kids for that level. 1st in level will go Integrity, 2nd go Adventurous, 3rd go Integrity, 4th go Adventurous etc. till they finish with top 80. Then they place the next 80 in Meticulous and Respectful accordingly. It is not \"random\" allocation, but the top 2 classes are of equal standard in that sense.

Thanks pen88n & JamesZ for sharing. Picture is now clearer.

Can i also check when do students start taking higher chinese & what is the average marks in order to be able to take this? Thanks.

If the kid is in Integrity / Adventurous class on P4, they will take Higher Chinese lessons with the GEP students, but test will be normal Chinese paper.

By P5, it will then be decided if kid taking HCL. Usually 4 classes of HCL - Integrity, Adventurous, Meticulous and Respectful.

        Hope this helps.

Was ordering dd's p3 bks online today. Noticed tt p4 integrity & adv has diff booklists fm rest of p4 classes. Diff is the HCL.

When the GEP takes their HCL test, Integrity & Adventurous kids will be exposed too, but marks not taken into consideration in report card. They will take the normal Chinese CAs and SAs with the other kids in P4 level, and those marks are the ones in the report card.

The idea of exposure to hcl without taking the test sounds gd. Too bab my dd is in the81 to 160 position.

I like the idea of exposure to hcl but hcl exam marks not counted. Give a kids the chance to test out the subject. Will encourage dd to study harder in p3 and see if she has a chance to go I or A class. Having said that, think students in these 2 classes must have scored at least more than 95 marks in all subjects. Dd has band 1 for all 3 subjects, some in 80s & some 90s, still not qualified for I & A.

Out of curiousity, does it mean that every year from P3, the children will be ranked yr on yr and re-shuffle based on that yr's result?

Random allocation was what the teacher said; probably just wanted to consol those who did not get into the class that they had hoped for.
Anyway, for my DS class, 4 got into I, min 3 got into A ... All the top 3 got into I, so it does not seem to be alternative between I and A .

Keekee, any one fr yr DD got into I ?

I heard 10 from I and 6 from A entered GEP this year.

If top 40 go to I, this will not happen.

                        In my boy’s class, 3 to I and 5 to A.

The teacher said top 87 went to I and A.
