      There is a book that tries to predict the best sectors to be in 10 years down the road. Want to gaze into your crystal ball for 20 years later ? 😄 😄

        I think that historically, the question is easily answered.

        1. Choose an area of knowledge that is
        a) hard to access;
        b) requires lengthy technical or conceptual familiarisation;
        c) is linked to money, physical comfort, or food.

        (This will set you up comfortably.)

        2. Choose a second or even third area.

        3. Make sure that very few people (or none) have the expertise to link these areas into a useful synthesis.

        (This will make you nearly unique and ensure you always have a job.)

        4. Learn how to do this with or for other people.

        (You will then have the basis of a corporate existence.)

        😄

          It is not the biggest, strongest, fastest, of even the most intelligent that thrive, but the most adaptable.

          So…whatever the future holds, learning a diversity of skills and the ability to think and synthesise, I think, are the key.

            I'm thinking 2030 could be Engineering...

            Cos everyone wants to get into the business/ banking line now - so - dd/ss concept? Lesser engineers... thereby leading to better job prospects?.. :idea:

              I think the banking and finance sector will not be as easy to make money then than now because our financial system will soon undergo an overhaul in 10 or 20 years time. By then, most of the world currencies will be linked to a basket of other currencies and MOST importantly with gold as a component. I’ll not elaborate. In short, the result will be that bankers will not be able to pay themselves big bonus like what those in walls streets are doing today.

              Let me make a try on this. I think in 2030, robotic engineers will be in great demand. Because of greying population, by 2030, most of the developed nations and even developing nations today like China will have a high percentage of old people. The world will require intelligent robots to accomplish many of the chores and even to chit-chat with lonely old people.

                  Then becoming physiotherapists would be good.
                  My friend is a private physiotherapist doing home visits and he's earning quite alot with flexi schedule. His clients are mostly old folks who are not able to make their way to hospital for physiotherapy (or they refuse to go and wait there).

                        1. Environmental - Earth in trouble

                        2. Healthcare - Greying population

                        3. Domestic workers - higher divorce levels yield more one-parent families
