Confuse:
Hi, my girl score 244 for the PSLE.

Can someone give me some advice which school is a better choice?

      Cedar or Chung Cheng(Main) :?

      thank you
Cedar COP most likely to increase this year (2010: 246) due to the new joint IP with VJC. Chung Cheng Main would be a less risky choice in my opinion.

But most importantly, it depends on where you stay. No point going to a good school that is too far away. Time spent on travelling can be put to better use.

My son was on RI wait list. He score 253 and got rejected. He got a GE status. Now comtemplating whether to stick to GE/IP sch. Shd I try DH and NJC too? RI says can appeal if want to. Should I?

Of course you should appeal to RI. There's no harm right? At the same time, put DHS / NJC as your 1st and 2nd choice schools. Your son should do alright in the GE/IP schools. 253 is a very decent aggregate.

Cedar is good but a bit risky considering that their COP was 246 last year and I can forsee a lot of girls would try to get into Cedar considering their soon-to-be IP status.

CCHM is quite safe for a score of 244.

Forget about Cedar, unless yr kid has something good to offer on appeal.

Personally think Nan Chiau should be your top choice. Its results are going great guns. As your kid is a HMT pupil, no need to worry about affiliation pt later.

Puzzled about the Bonus Point of Higher Chinese for SAP schools: will the 1-3 Bonus Point be added in the score directly or it only works when the candidates’ score are same? For example, my aughter got 260+3, will her score be 263 when she apply NYHS? or still 260 but the 3 will be added only when other candidates are also 260? in other words, if there is one 260+3 and one 262, who has the chance?
And your evidence for that is? ...

I am STUDYING in an IP school, and while I love this whole system and all, I find my classmates absolutely disgusting. It varies from school to school, really. In my school, almost everyone is for backstabbing, someone stole my notes before the exams, and I actually kept them painstakingly in a file in my bag. Go figure.

I am so afraid of that. May I ask which school are you from?
gosh o.o i am also studying in an IP school , and i must agree the system is well-planned. About your classmates , i think there's only a minority of such people that are blacksheeps right ? I mean if almost everyone is like what you mentioned , it would just be a competition of whom has more superior skills of stealing and stuff right. but i do agree that there's a handful of despo people who go around stealing notes and i advice you to keep them at home , so they would be out of reach from others(: and i am also kinda curious of what's the school of yours that seems so competitive.

Parents excercise your choices wisely. Value added is the most important criteria for selection of neighbourhood schools. For high scorers your top choice must not exceed 2 pts from your T-score and your second choice must be in line with your grade.

Would appreciate it if you could elaborate.
